Considering winter is coming up, maybe go with something different? the sharper citruses I find better for summer, in winter I personally prefer warmer, richer scents... What's your budget? Are you looking to explore more niche stuff (where do you live?), and take time to sample different things, etc or just a point and shoot safe choice? Anyway, describe some you like and don't or an idea of what you're looking for, we'll take it from there. otherwise, just start here... but be careful, the rabbit hole is quite deep...

trying out Lacoste Challenge (which is rather un-challenging), and Givenchy Play. Both are underwhelming, though the Lacoste has this excellent lemon-lime/lavender/floral opening.

Hmm.. Im not too good at explaining what I like. Im actually trying to develop that skill. Definitely lookin for a point and shoot safe choice as I do not want to chase another rabbit (lord knows I have enough black holes) My nose is so sensitive that I would rather have one scent versatile enough to be year around.

Im living in South Carolina, the budget will not be a problem for I plan to buy one and stick with it. I do not like floral scents. I never recognized Lacoste silver to be of citrus, if that is common knowlege than I obviously need to expand my rhino pallette. Wish I could be a better discriptor, I guess the best thing to do is just roll up to saks and pick a hot counter girl to show me whats goin on. Thanks for your help and I would appreciate any more advice you got to put in the right direction.

Brewer: there aren't that many point-and-shoot safe choices out there: different tastes, memories, and personal chemistry make it a crapshoot for all of us. That said, get out the there and sample like a madman. Recs: (with all, give at least an hour or two before deciding) Chanel Platinum Egoiste Guerlain Vetiver If you'll be at saks, seek out samples of the following: Chanel Pour Monsieur or 31 Rue Cambon Chanel Eau de Cologne Chanel Sycomore Chanel Cuir de Russie. I think that's a good start for now. Oh, check out john varvatos. not the vintage or artisan, just john varvatos.

I smelled the new Lacoste once or twice, only thing I remember is quite a tart opening, like lime or ouzo or something... overall, nothing particularly interesting.

I'd say just hit Saks and start smelling... I'd look into Creed - Green Irish Tweed, Guerlain Vetiver, Hermes - Terre d'Hermes... something along those lines. These are generally all well regarded. For something more like AdG or Lacoste - I'd say try Dior Eau Sauvage, Jo Malone - try a few, including Sweet Lime & Cedar, or the Acqua Di Parma line, like say the Intensa

The Lacoste was fine for what it was and wouldn't be a bad addition if you don't already have something light and summery.

Today, though: Bulgari Black. I've had this bottle for months and wear it so occasionally I might have it forever.

I gave that a sniff and thought I liked it. Like CdG sequoia, but less boringly sweet in the drydown. But I only checked it once. I am not buying one of those 200ml bottles and it doesn't come in a PP, so I figured I would drop it from my brain and forget it about. I am annoyed that you brought it up, but now that you did, what do you think of it?

Never smelled Sequoia but the Sycamore was painfully short lived. Sort of a woodsy/feminine vibe but it was gone in a few hours or less the couple of times I tried it.

Hey, would you be interested in Creed Millesime Imperial? I'm doing a decant and I need to fill a open spot. 100mL for $67 total shipped.

today YSL Homme... I'm thinking of buying a bottle actually, to replace my Boss #6. I think it makes a pleasant inoffensive daily office scent, or something I'd wear to an interview or something... decent longevity, a bit of sillage, and just a hint of sweet florals.

Weird. This is what I thought of Sequoia. At least now I know I can toss Sycamor down the memory hole.
