Thanks for the recommendations! I will look into those.

Are Chanel colognes often considered long lasting? I used a tester of Allure Homme Sport on my wrist this morning and I can still smell it pretty well.

Pour Monsieur generally lasts well past lunchtime - Antaeus and PE generally are around for the drive home, but a bit of it depends on your chemistry.

I never understood all the love for this...smells like licorice, then pure cloying woody-amber.

More Original Aoud for me today...still obsessed.

You can do better. I see you're in Toronto...have you been to Noor in Yorkville? Check out the Eau d'Italie line.

If it was licorice like Azzaro I would like it. Sadly I get cough syrup-tobacco. I don't hate it to the same degree as D&G PH but it's...kind of treading water.

What do you smell when you wear Versace Blue Jeans? Is it more floral, citrus, woody, foody?

I smell mostly a sort of woody peppery/spicy smell with a bit of sweetness.

PS - I've been checking out Basenotes, amazing site. I only wish that there was a feature where when you look up a cologne, it would tell you comparable and which aspects of the one you're looking at they emphasize.

Basenotes is an excellent resource, but I find that when I spend too much time on there I wind up with a list of things I HAVE to have.

So - woody-peppery, mildly sweet.

These are all different but in a similar vein:

Guerlain Heritage
Hermes Bel Ami (reasonable at Amazon.com)
Chanel Antaeus
Caron Yatagan (a bit outre, but still good IMHO)
Banana Republic Black Walnut (or is it Slate? One is pretty much what you describe)

None of these should be outrageously expensive, but the Guerlain and Chanel may be hard to find.

Varvatos Vintage today, as Boston weather continues to drag its feet merging winter into spring.

Any recommendations for a fresh, cool scent that I can wear through the summer? I'm thinking about picking up YSL's L'Homme for this task but if anyone's got other suggestions I'd love input. Preferably something found easily in a department store.

If you like peppery, CdG 888 may be an option

TdH again today. This lasts forever on my skin - thirteen and a half hours, and still going strong!

I had some store credit to burn at Ralph Lauren so I picked up a small bottle of Purple Label. Works surprisingly well with my body chemistry... didn't really like it on the blotter card but after spraying it on my skin and giving it just a minute I really like it.
