Scent/Fragrance of the Day thread - Page 281

Today - a new sample of The Gentleman's Quarter's scent - Cavendish Black. It's a thoroughly convincing pipe tobacco note, and then veers into Antaeus territory.

Just got the black fleece cologne. It's not my bag though.

Sampling Polo Double Black - mmm, mango. This is what I imagined un jardin sur le nile smelled like

I'm switching back and forth with Tom Ford Grey Vetivere and Ralph Lauren Purple Label. I'll also throw in Terre D'Hermes if it's cold outside.

Tried out some Musc Ravageur. The first half hour is stinky musk, like the opening of Kiehls but sharper. Then it settles into a hot chocolate and vanilla extract experience. Pretty nice. I'll bet it would be comforting during the winter.

Today - the other sample from The Gentleman's Quarter...Leatherneck. It comes on gently with a birch tar/band-aid smell, not far from Creed Cuir de Riussie. Dry bergamot, and a whiff of Le Barnyard. I like, very much.

Yes, reminds me of a freshly paved blacktop. Very dark and tenacious.

Guerlain's Vetiver (newer formula i think?) I've come to the conclusion I just don't like vetiver in general. (from the 10+ I've tried anyway) Shame because there has to be at least 50 companies making variations of it.

^^^ IMHO - sometimes it's one of things that makes sense at the right time. My first few forays into vetiver in general were not positive, but one day - it connected and I was a fan.

Today - Yatagan, for a cool, crisp morning.

Same here. Couldn't stand GV the first time I tried it. Thought I was just not a vetiver fan. Just bought a bottle of Tom Ford Grey Vetiver. Nice, clean, and soapy.

Nicole Miller again. Trying to work up a review for this scent, but the opening is a boozy fruity indolic opaqueness that I still can't quite get my arms around.

Today: back to the classic: Antaeus.

Finishing out the week with Bvlgari Black. It's a keeper, but it took more than a few tries to click with me. smoky tea/rubber/vanilla.

Black Aoud. Haven't worn this in a year or so. Forgot that I liked it. ^^^I've bought and sold Bvlgari Black twice. I really want to like it but it just doesn't work for me.
