Today I'm wearing Kolnisch Juchten.

^Some great, dark "moving into fall" scents on deck this week. Great choices! I'm feeling the mood as well and reached for DZING! even before reading the thread today.

I really like DZING! and find it a unique and complex scent. It's sort of leathery, sort of stinky, but then has a very soft, quiet sweetness to it. If only it had a rotten melon in it somewhere, it might just hit all my major points (j/k).

Yeah, Dzing! is a fantastic fragrance with a great narrative.

True Lust Rayon Violet de Ses Yeux for me today. It's one of my very favorite scents. It's got a powdery violet makeup vibe, but it's also got a rice note somewhat similar to the one in Fils de Dieu.

Frederic Malle's Bigarade Concentree this morning.

I agree. Usually fragrance narratives leave me going, "meh," but I like this one. Also love the little graphic of the lady riding the tiger. Giacobetti, like Ropion and Maurice Roucel, are probably the three greatest "new" noses out there.

Cab driver eats an orange! Wonderful scent that is one of my favorites. It's just too damn $$$$ so I never seem to have a steady supply.

Jubilation XXV. This one deserves all the praise it gets in the online fragrance community. There's so much going on in it, but what I really love is the combination of bitterness from the frankincense with the sweetness of the fruity notes and the richness of the woods.

Today I'm wearing Iris Oriental by Parfumerie Generale. It's been a while since I wore this and it's such a treat to revisit something and realize how fantastic it is - like getting stoned and hearing a song again for the first time.

Idole de Lubin today.

Zegna Acqua di Bergamot EDT presents the refreshing aromatics of just cut citrus prepped for an afternoon G'n'T which mingle with Mediterranean florals and freshly cut grass. Definitely spring is in the air.

Will be excellent for summer, relaxed subtle definitely not too brash for an HR environment or as CD once said, "definitely wouldn't frighten the horses." but would spark their attention.

SOTE is the new Galop d'Hermès. I'm not really feeling this. It opens with a sharp citrusy note that I identified as grapefruit, but I guess it is actually quince. As the quince retreats, a clean, civilized leather emerges as the dominant note. It's got some rosy sweetness, but what's more prominent to my nose is the saffron. I don't dislike this by any means, but I can't get excited about it either. Those of you who enjoy leather scents more than I do might find this enjoyable.

For Singapore residents and visitors: new niche shop: Maven (http://www.mavenofficial.com/). Two locations: Vivocity, Takashimaya.

What's special (other than finally a place selling TDC, ELO, Nasomatto, etc.): they will sell 10ml decants to "collectors" for SGD 30. Depending on the bottle that can be a good deal (and yes, Nasomatto is more: SGD 90 for 10ml).

'MAVENLAUNCH' good til 30th Nov for 10% off.

I liked the Acca Kappa line-up, easy to wear. Tilia Cordata was the most surprising, with its linden blossom it was straight back to French city springs for me. Glicine (Italian for wisteria) was another with the same effect. 1869 is a sharp barbershop scent with incense at the base.

TDC Osmanthus was disappointing, not as osmanthus-like as Osmanthe Yunnan (but longer lasting). ELO Faun was surprisingly tame, gunning for the mainstream?

Worth a mention: Rosa Nigra by Unum does what Nahema tried, create a completely synthetized rose. I think it is substantially more successful, with a strong impression of a citrussy Damask rose.

Nasomatto is highly rated by niche fans but I just don't get it, I think this really rich style is better done by Sultan Pasha. Did not get a sense that Black Afgano was anything like MJ.

SOTD is the new Diptyque Essence Insensées Rose de Mai. It's a bright, happy rose with a touch of honeyed sweetness. Even though it's not listed in the notes, there's a facet of this that reminds me of tonkin musk. I think this is going to belong to the very large category of rose scents that I like but don't love.

I've been wondering what you think of that one. I happen to like it.
