What others do you challenge to try?

I have both of those. The Shalimar is my wife's, and I suspect it may have turned. My bottle of Mitsouko is still around somewhere; I will need to dig it out.

My challenge to y'all is Chanel no 19. There's really nothing feminine about that fragrance.

Agreed. One of my favorites. Really wonderful.

I've always been a big fan of both Shalimar and Mitsouko. I'll be honest, though, I've never liked Chanel No. 19, mainly because I'm not a big fan of sharp green scents like that.

Pre-shower: Ungaro Diva. It's an old-fashioned mossy, civety rose. Never been a big fan.
SOTD: Jul et Mad Garuda. This is my favorite of the Les White collection. It's a restrained oud and saffron scent with some boozy and amber notes. I'm a big fan of this house, and I can't wait to try the new Secrets du Paradis Rouge.

I wore my Mitsouko today. Mine's a modern formulation EDT. I quite like this one, but I can't say that I gave it a fair shake. I spent the day cleaning out the fish tank and then going for a swim, so there's very little trace of it left.

Pre-shower: Ambre Sultan. Among my very favorite ambers, along with Amber Absolute, Amber Flash, and Memo Manoa.
SOTD: Eric Buterbaugh Sultry Rose. It's a very pleasant, warm saffron and rose, with a bit of woodiness that I think comes from oud.

IMHO, this thread needs more discussion, challenges, interaction, etc. Too much just posting SOTD's without commentary. I'd love to see more reviews of members after they try challenges, or discussing in more detail why/what they like.

The point of niche fragrance is that it's quite personal... but honestly, I don't really see what/how/why I should go out and search for these new gems.

Hashtag... challenge!

Today I'm wearing Habit Rouge, which is one of those fragrances that could very easily be a feminine. Many fragrances, both masculine and feminine, have an edge to them, an olfactory hangnail, but not Habit Rouge - it's like a well-polished stone with lobes and indentations and curves, but no angles.

Does anyone have experience with Penhaligon's fragrances? I'm interested in trying out a couple but could use a nudge in the right direction.

I have and love Sartorial. I think a few of the sample sites do Penhaligon's packs - maybe grab one of those?

What kind of scents do you like? I could just shotgun it and name like 5 worth trying but they're all pretty different categories

I've been all over the map lately. Normally, I like musky/woody scents, more masculine. However, I've broadened my horizons lately and have really enjoyed lighter stuff, citrusy, floral. My favorites as of late are Etat Libre d'Orange's Like This and Jasmin Et Cigarette, Creed's Avenutes, Aesop's Tacit, and Diptyque's Philosykos and Tam Dao.

I have three, Sartorial EDT and Opus 1870 EDT which are both warm winter fragrances. Blenheim Bouquet EDT is definitely a spring and summer wear. I've found them excellent for longevity and none of them are particularly loud. Quintessential English masculine fragrances at heart.

I tend to agree; it's always informative to hear from the guys why they like something, especially when it's new to me.

In the spirit, I am part of a challenge elsewhere to wear Guerlain every day for a week. Today I wore L'instant Homme. .Now it would be fair to say that I don't tend to wear this any more; I always tend to reach for LIDGE instead. However I wore LIDGE last week, so I thought "give this another try".

L'Instant to me has that cocoa vibe that makes both of these excellent cold weather choices, but it leans more towards woodiness and isn't as full-on as LIDGE. It's probably more suited to the office, and also better suited to the winter-spring season that we are now in. I think LIDGE is very much a depths-of-winter-god-I'd-kill-for-a-hot-chocolate scent.

That said, if I had to choose, I would stick with LIDGE and move this one on.

I agree. Sartorial is probably the best scent Penhaligon's produces. That being said, I can also recommend Blenheim Bouquet and Castile.
Of course all depends on what type of fragrance you are looking for.
