Scent/Fragrance of the Day thread - Page 1671

Sultan Pasha Incense Royale today.

The similarities with Montecristo by Masque are striking, especially a couple of hours in. The magnificent vanilla however completely takes the edge off and makes it a much more pleasant, well rounded perfume. I'm guessing it doesn't have hyrax but there's definitely a parallel between whatever is in it giving the animalic side (aged oud?) and the hyrax in Montecristo.

It's been a few more hours and the drydown is very dusty. More so than I remember. The vanilla is mostly gone and the result smells a bit like concrete on a hot summer day.

I layered Monsieur de Givenchy initially and it was a lovely combination, the SP giving MDG some depth, closing the distance and breaking down the formality. I've seen many Basenoters adding civet, ambergris or oud to mainstream reformulations to give them depth again (civet in Jicky is apparently quite something). I can absolutely see why.

It's a typical San Francisco misty summer day, so I'm wearing Portrait of a Lady.

any recommendations for a relatively uncommon, easy to wear scent for a mid 20s male?

im a fan of aventus, tuscan leather, the typical recommended scents but ive been out of the fragrance community for a while. want to see what to check out.

Have you tried Geranium Pour Monsieur?

I've been wearing 34 Boulevard St Germain over the last few days/evenings.

Mendittorosa le mat today. Heady mix of rose / chamomile up top, then immortelle (but softer than say eau noire or sables) and patchouli. Lovely stuff.

L'Air du Désert Marocain is the fragrance I'm wearing today.

Sultan Pasha Inferno today. I've really gone full circle with SP. Love it -> "this is too stinky" -> love it.

Anyway, it's gourmand like the middle notes of Incense Royale (and its beautiful Bourbon vanilla), but with a sourness which I am guessing is the Amalfi lemon, but which is something else at this point after a month or two of "aging" in my cupboard. The attar does finish off a little dusty just like the other. I wonder if the full bottle preserves the original better, or whether this evolution is desired, or whether my nose has changed.

Anyone try the new TFPB Vert series yet? Thoughts?

I have, and I am undecided on it. Sometimes the toothpaste associations are too strong for me to deal with it and other times I don't mind it.

I recommend another Ropion creation -- Vetiver Extraordinaire. I like GPM, but it is so fleeting on my skin. VE doesn't have great projection or sillage, but it lasts all day for me.

Man, they are releasing so many new fragrances. It's to the point now where I don't even have time to look forward to new releases. I haven't tried these yet, but I will because I try everything by TF.

I'm wearing The Afternoon of a Faun today.
