Today I am wearing Guerlain Derby, which hits all the notes that I appreciate in Kouros but without the urine-sitting-in-the-hot-sun smell smell, but also so much more as well.

Fleurs d'Oranger by Serge Lutens. To me, this is the gold standard of orange blossom scents.

Rochas Man arrived and I don't like it. Just way too sweet. I definitely get that tiramisu vibe but it's just too sickly sweet for me. Maybe I could handle one spray.

I went into the store yesterday and told the lady about it. She pulled out this perfume called Him by Hanae Mori. Much better. It's along the same vibe but it has more spiciness to balance out the sweet. It was also pretty cheap, and apparently it's a perfume concentration not a cologne (not sure if that makes a difference to how long it will last or not).

Quite nice to have someone who understands what I'm looking for that quickly.

Totally agree.

This evening I'm wearing Jasmin et Cigarette.

The new/est, current version? I have been trying to get my hands on a sample but not with much conviction yet. Probably will increase my efforts.
How different is it from the vintage? (If you can compare.)

Stopped by the Tom Ford boutique and tried out NP Forte and Mandarino di Amalfi. Not really impressed by either. Sprayed Soleil Blanc on a card. Reminded me of Creed VIW. Worth further investigation.

Yes, Soleil Blanc is definitely in the same genre as VIW. Also ELDO Fils de Dieu.

It's been so long since I tried the original Derby that it's not worth mentioning.

HiM isn't a bad scent. Sweet and spicey. HM is really just sweet syrupy stuff and too much of it. If you're a college kid, eh, you can be forgiven, but not for someone who's been down the scent road.

I'm heading off to the gym now. I decided to apply some HM (which is not the same as HiM, despite the similarity in the names). As always, it reminds me of lemon Starburst candy.

^ I have a 30ml bottle of Derby looking like the one on the left. 1987 apparently (hoping not with a fake refill...)

On another note, going to Tokyo for a week. Could use some tips on where to buy parfums (like Yohji's, maybe limited to Japan market only scents, too, and which to "look" at).
Same for Japanese makers glasses frames and sun glasses.
