Chanel 1932 for me today. It's relatively new but it's definitely in the classic Chanel style. It's a bright, aldehydic, powdery floral. It's a bit sour too. The primary floral note to my nose is iris. It's pleasant but I don't love it. I'll always have good memories associated with this though because I tried it for the first time when I was in Houston preparing for my brother's wedding. It was brand new then. I remember I asked the SA at Neiman Marcus if it had iris. She laughed at me and assured me there was no iris at all in this.

A knowledgeable fragrance sales associate is as rare as hen's teeth.

Hmm, I guess ambient temps, humidity and individual skin chemistry play a role (as with most if not all scents really).

Aside from CdR, I can believe you - I only tested them on paper, and the enormous difference between paper-CdR and arm-CdR convinced me that Chanel is something worth exploring in depth, on skin. Also, end-of-evening in-mall trial is not the way to do these things.

I noticed the Sycomore paper got noticeably less screechy with time, so I hear you there.

So, I dabbed some Beaufort London 1805 Tonnerre, and man is this stuff disconcerting. I love smoky scents, but this smells like a smoldering fire at the beach, with its powerful saline component. And I emphasize the "smoldering" descriptor because it smells like a bunch of half-burnt logs from evergreen trees. It's really a nasty fucking fragrance.

Comme des Garcons 2. A fascinating one; I can't say I like it on me, but it's cool just as a change of pace.

Silver or brown bottle?

I cleaned off the Beaufort 1805 with rubbing alcohol and gauze pads and put on another sample: Vero's Kiki EdP. I don't think I have ever tried this sample. It's nice - a white floral done in Vero Kern's typical fashion.

Kiki is my least favorite of the Vero perfumes I've tried. The lavender is so harsh that it always reminds me of chlorine.

My SOTD is TF Black Orchid Voile de Fleur. I enjoy this very much. Don't know if you guys have seen this, but there's another Black Orchid flanker out now: it's Orchid Soleil. I haven't tried it, but of course I will.

it's an old Luckyscent sample, so i'm not sure--whatever they were pulling samples from in 2013.

The reason I ask is because there's 2 and then there's 2 Man. I guess I should have just asked you that.

@HORNS Ah. It's just 2, not 2 Man.

I love the bone-dry quality of CdG 2 Man, but I've always found 2 to be very interesting.

Edit: Today I'm wearing Russian Tea by Masque Milano.

@crdb

CdR - try the Extrait next time. HORNS is an advocate, afaik.

Have you tried any Dior Privees yet?
Would be curious to hear your take. smile.gif

SOTD - FM Vetiver EO. Sprayed 4-5 times but less than 2 hours in it's a skin scent at best. The occasional whiff is pleasant but too faint to make anything of it. Will try again t'row with more.

Know where I can find them in Singapore?

I tried Dior PH parfum, it was OK but not my style.

Pre-shower: Aziyadé. I enjoy this a lot. Cumin is the star for sure, but it also features a pleasant date note, not unlike the one in L'Artisan Al Oudh. The first time I tried this I really underestimated its complexity. The more I wear it the more I notice.

SOTD is Fleur de Chine by Tom Ford.
