It almost sounds too good to be true and its about what most people say in reviews. Ive decided to chill for a while on my perfume investments but maybe maybe just a little le labo decant... my birthday is coming up and all!

SOTD - MFK Satin Oud

So sweet, so sweet!

Got out the Richard James Savile Row today. This is one of the best office scents that I own, I reckon. The bottle is plug-ugly, but I can live with that.

I just won an eBay auction for a FB of Beautiful Mind. I was a bit dismayed to find them somebody had just given him feedback that a similar product he sold was a fake. Product is in Russia, so doubly concerning. I'm surprised to learn that Escentual Molecules frags are being faked; seems unlikely. Has anybody heard of this before? Once it arrives, are there any suggestions as to how I can check authenticity? (Pretty sure the ABM line is not available here for a comparison).

Having scraped many a website in, ahem, less economically developed parts of the world for pricentile.com I can tell you straight away that VIRTUALLY ALL fragrances (at least that we listed) are faked, even the niche ones, somewhere (we don't list sites that include them). You find most of the fakes on Chinese websites and some of the sites are very honest about it ("Allure copy")*. As with fashion, some of the fakes are more convincing than others.

Nice one on the Richard James. I really wanted to get a sample after reading Colin Maillard's review (http://yeoldecivetcat.blogspot.sg/2015/08/savile-row-by-richard-james-2003.html) but couldn't find it on TPC...

You're in Australia aren't you? If you are, I'm happy to send you a decant. I won't live long enough to use up all the fragrances I own. smile.gif

That would be incredibly cool. I'm based in Singapore but visit Sydney often. Mind if I drop you a PM next time I'm there?

Sure. I'm in Melbourne so I'd need to mail it to you in Sydney.

SOTE Sultan Pasha Tabac Grande.

I don't know whether it's the samplers, the humid and hot atmosphere they cycle through when we leave the house, or the perfume itself which as a bunch of natural compounds naturally evolves. It could also be my nose which has changed via mass exposure to many new fragrances (one always learns).

Nevertheless, this, as well as Delice Amaretti which I re-tried last night, have substantially changed. They are both weaker and a little "sourer" if that makes sense. The powerful overwhelming tobacco is now a distant whiff of cigar smoke from the balcony; the sweetness is there but it is more cooked Morello cherry than vanilla. Not unpleasant, but it's a different fragrance altogether. Do these scents need aging?

So I picked up a new bottle of sycomore, and it's considerably darker in colour than my previous bottle. Reformulated? Fake?? I tried spraying one on each arm; but unfortunately I have a cold at the moment so my sense of smell is greatly diminished

Edit: don't think it's fake; has the magnetized cap + a spray on the wrist lasted overnight. We'll see how it compares to the old bottle once this cold has passed

My two bottles of Sycomore are the new one's color. Maybe your first one was fake! Just kidding.

Oh, and regarding Patchouli 24 and Le Labo weird naming with their ingredients involved, apparently Iris 39 has more patchouli in it than Patchouli 24.

You could try a spray tester of it from luckyscent for $6--first time i've ever seen luckyscent do a spray tester, but i guess they're doing it for all the le labo stuff. ymmv, but i'm figuring i can get at least 15 wears out of this tester.

Did you buy the Sycomore unboxed? Could have been some light exposure. As long as it smells fine it should be good.

Also, it you look at something like say Dior's private line, they used to just make them whatever random color they came out, but then they actually started adding more color to make it more of a gradient/rainbow effect. So I have to look at Chanel's line again but I think they may have done the same thing so at the store there's a clear range of color to indicate something about the smell.
