Scent/Fragrance of the Day thread - Page 1623

Still sampling the Bruno Fazzolari scents. Yesterday was Monserrat, today is Jimmy. Both of these have big fruity components, and in both cases that makes them no bueno for me, stylistically. Objectively, they both are well made and have good longevity and structure. I prefer Monserrat. It has grapefruit and apricot and osmanthus (which is also a bit fruity), but it's balanced out by some astringent green notes. Jimmy has some note (cassis?) that is just too juicy for me - it's giving me olfactory fatigue.

I'm not sure if I mentioned this before, but the best thing I smelled at AIX was Miyako by Auphorie, which Luca Turin raved about on his blog. They couldn't accept credit cards so I couldn't buy a bottle at the fair, but it's also an osthmanthus scent, like Monserrat, but it's got a beautiful leather component that completely balances out the sweet floral/fruit notes. It's really a beautiful scent.

Thanks. I frequent there but I've never done this. Is it worthwhile / good to use?

Short answer yes. Like a few others here I was hesitant but you can really get good values and the amount you want (10ml 20ml 25ml 30ml etc etc)

I wore Fils de Dieu today. A person who always likes to smell my perfume when she sees me said "Hmm this one has got a musty smell to it." My guess is that she was picking up on the rice note.

Tonight I'm wearing Vero's Rubj EdP - this is just a fantastic fragrance and one which I will have to get a bottle of someday. Passion fruit? Just brilliant combined with the cumin. I wonder if she uses some special molecularly-distilled cumin note because it is different from full blown earthy cumin.

SOTD with a few reapplications was Tam Dao edt square bottle.

Also was walking around town and smelled some DS&Durga's and put on some Bowman. Sorry to say I don't much like this line. I find them a little raw and unbalanced.

I 100% agree with you regarding DS&Durga.

SP Delice Amaretti for lunch today. Despite its name, I still think this is the least gourmand (at least once the almond is gone), driest of the "pleasant" SPs.

Projection was made better by following Sultan's advice and spreading the drop with my finger. Slight scare as the application area spent 20 minutes reddening, then it faded away.

Been digging into the goodies that M-C sent me. Couple of Ex Nihilo samples The last couple of days: Musc Infini and Oud Vendome. Today is Chanel No 19 EDT.

I like it. It's particularly good if you want an amount that's less than a full bottle but more than a sample, or a scent that's prohibitively expensive at retail (e.g., Creed Royal Exclusives).

Happen to be wearing DS & Durga Italian Citrus today. smile.gif They're not as refined as the big boys, but a lot better than other indies I've tried (Slumberhouse, Imaginary Authors). They raised prices by nearly 50% recently, so I probably won't be buying any more.

sampling the intoxicating Stephane Humbert Lucas 777 O Hira tonight...it is a dark sweet syrupy amber with a touch of spice and maybe a hint of oud too

I think a full bottle may work its way into my collection soon...

I am wearing Parure by Guerlain today.

I left the house wearing Lomani AB Silver (an Aventus clone), then a few hours later went past a perfume shop and smelled some EDLO's, and quite liked (and liberally sprayed on) Remarkable People. I really can't pick out any sort of individual notes/accords on this but I'm sensing a powdery leather floral perhaps with some sort of nutty sweet candy tone. Hard to describe off hand.

I tried on Diptyque's Florabellio today, and it is a hologram of the smell of the beach. It's amazing in that regard, but definitely not for me.

Tonight I put on some Luten's Santal de Mysore, which I bought 5 mL of from Surrender to Chance.

When I very first tried Remarkable People, I was not a fan at all. That's because it contains lots of notes that I don't like, including grapefruit and a champagne-like note that is similar to YSL Yvresse. But one day I wore it and then later in the day forgot what I had put on. I thought "Hmm, I'm not sure what this is but I like it."

Habit Rouge EDT. Vintage, from the late 90s. Another courtesy of M-C. Just think, when Guerlain bottled this, everyone was dancing to Macarena.
