SOTE is Bond No. 9 New York Amber. I'm not a big fan of Bond No. 9, but I really do enjoy this one. It's a peppery, warm spicy, somewhat boozy amber.

First post on the thread... but perfumes are a relatively recent hobby.

This week's:

Francis Kurkdjian: Amyris (love it), Pluriel Man, Acqua Vitae Forte, Acqua Universalis Forte

Amouage: Epic (also love it)

Jul et Mad Garuda today. This is a warm, comforting oud, patchouli, and rose scent. I'm a big fan of this house, and I enjoy this one quite a lot.

For some reason unknown to me, I always pronounce the name of this as if it were Dutch (pronouncing the "g" like the German "ch").

It is pronounced with a hard "g" isn't it? That's how the Indonesian airline is pronounced. It's named after the mythical man-bird from Hindu legend; presumably Jul et Mad are using the same name.

Yes, that's right. I have no idea why the word always comes into my head with a Dutch g.

Amouage Lyric Man.

I was expecting rose, but this is a lot of it. Very nice rose mind you. But since I'm not Middle-Eastern, it will unfortunately have to be a weekend scent...

Pardon today. Dark chocolate to go with the Easter eggs.

Got fed up of Lyric Man, washed it off, now wearing the much better Diptyque Philosykos, probably my favourite ever (due to spending my summers near the Mediterranean). EDT alas, which is gone in 4 hours.

Lys du Désert. This is a classic Andy Tauer: dry and sharp, with a big ambergris note, but with a heavy sweetness too.

Since you're a Tauer fan, what do you think of Memo's new African Leather? I'm hesitating to pull the trigger...
