Scent/Fragrance of the Day thread - Page 1553

Happy Christmas all. Very hot day here today, and I am totally shagged from that and from hosting 24 people at the family party. The place is groaning with leftovers, which means I'll need to throw another party to get rid of them all.

Plum pudding ice cream with mint Maltesers anybody?

Anyway I wore Geranium Pour Monsieur. I really like this but it really doesn't last. Shame.

Spent yesterday walking around NYC and stopped by the Dior boutique to test Feve Delices and Bois D'Argent. Both good, but not 'great', meaning decant worthy but not bottle worthy IMO.

Also stopped by Osswald and one of their temp SA's turned out to be a professor teaching a course (in French) on the history of French perfume with a custom textbook written in collaboration with Surrender To Chance people. Wow. Made me want to move here and take the course haaa.

Damn that's pretty awesome. I'd like to get a hold of the book.

Will hopefully be seeing her sometime in the next few days and will ask about it!

Raining, after yesterday's heat. Bloody typical, just as the Boxing Day cricket Test is ready to start, we get the rain.

For today's sultry weather, I'm wearing Bamboo Harmony. One of my guests yesterday smelled this and loved it, so I thought I'd fish it out today. She is a new recruit to the family, and I heartily approve of her because she is into op shops, high end clothing and perfume.

Today I wore Giorgio for Men in honor of my father and grandfather who always got a bottle for Christmas when I was a kid.

Today I'm wearing Rochas Lui, a criminally discontinued fragrance.

Green Irish Tweed today, for a day at the cricket. Pretty humdrum day, froze my arse off watching some very ordinary goings-on.

^ nice one!

thought of you yesterday since I was at Barneys doing sniffing and they had DS & Durga Italian Citrus there too and I gave it the ol' sniffa sniffa. Eh, decent stuff but didn't think it was anything of note really. Nice well done, but nothing too detailed.

Smelled some very interesting stuff between Barneys and Bergdorfs yesterday, wow. Byredo's extraits, Malle's The Night both being $$$, a few nice Serge, and had a great chat with a SA at Ex Nihilo, etc.

Opened up a bottle of Cuir de Russie parfum this evening. And I wore it.

^ very nice!

Today I went to MiN and had a little sniff around. Ended up spraying on Montale's Full Incense and Cafe Intense together to make my own version of Ford's Cafe Rose, which worked out quite well and i was rather happy with the lightbulb idea. Also confirmed that I want decants of a few Amouages for sure.

Dropped my Malle's newish downtown location and was super impressed with the store design, really really beautiful. I asked a few times in various ways to get a sample of The Night and was told fairly emphatically no. I sprayed it on again and while it's beautiful and high quality, it's basically PoaL with a good oud added, so if it were say $300-400 I could see it, but at $700 or something it seems made for people who don't look at price or are collectors and buy it blind anyway. It's very good work and probably 'worth' the price, but there's still a high dollar tag on it that goes beyond what I think it should be. If you love PoaL and have no real budget restrictions, then it's an excellent fragrance.

Hugh Parsons Hyde Park today, again for the cricket. Another slow day, but at least we won, which is something.
