Back to cloudy, gloomy and drizzly. Opus 1870. Love the spices on this, elegant and not too insistent. This is an excellent office fragrance, and I'm glad I snagged a bottle cheap.

I'm wearing Geranium pour Monsieur today. I'm not as big a fan as some of you guys, but I do like it.

I was reading a post by Luca Turin about it and it got me interested. I mean, he LOVES it. That doesn't mean anything, but it made me curious.

Regarding Geranium Pour Monsieur, it doesn't seem like your kind of fragrance.

Beyond Paradise is one of those scents that Turin famously loves that isn't loved by just about any other corner of the fragrance community.

Are we talking about Beyond Paradise or Beyond Paradise for Men?

yeah exactly. It's always brought up as an example of trust your own taste etc

SOTD Kilian Rose Oud - wow, rather beautiful but too short lived. I reapplied to enjoy that opening though.

Montale's Red Vetyver today. Bit of a departure for Montale; a fragrance with no aoud or rose. I don't actually get a huge hit of vetiver from this, the pepper tends to dominate. There's a nice green opening before the spice kicks in, but it's mostly a woody/spicy concoction. Projection is pretty good, as I caught a few whiffs of it just walking around, and it lasts pretty well.

^^ Interesting, I get quite a bit of vetiver from Red Vetyver. To me, it's fairly similar to Terre d'Hermès, but with less complexity. If my memory is right, it resembles the middle of TdH's drydown. (It's probably been two years since I've worn Red Vetyver.)

I'm wearing MFK A La Rose today. I'm a big fan of this one. A lot of reviews I've read characterize this as a plain, uninteresting rose. I can sort of see what they mean: there's nothing bold or innovative about this. It's just a very high quality rose. I like it much better than most other scents in the same genre.

So much pain right now... I've never dropped or broken any of my bottles, this was a first, and one helluva way to start. Sigh, this was so hard to find and cost me dearly. I feel like crying.

So sorry to see that m-c. I feel your pain.

Gaultier 2 today (or is it Gaultier Squared?). In any case this one is quite a sweet vanilla. It leans well towards the feminine, but I didn't feel it was overly so.

Today I'm wearing Hermes Santal Massoia .

Pre-shower: Tauer Vanilla Flash. This is a very pleasant, rich, boozy vanilla. And as HORNS pointed out a while back, it is somewhat reminiscent of Carmex.
SOTD: MFK Oud Silk Mood. I used to be a really big fan of this, but for some reason I'm finding it too dense and rich for my liking lately.

Curious to smell the new Amber Flash
