overall soak first thing in Essentric Molecules, then I have Dans Tes Bras on one wrist and Pamplelune on the other (after Guerlain's Cologne Imperial wore off)

Helmut Lang edp for me today. Perfect for a breezy, warm day.

Most will not remember that 10-12 years ago Prada was a "no logo" brand, committed to making unique, futuristic stuff (in Italy) from the best materials. Now much of the brand is a chinese and east-europe made garbage fest.
Still, though, their original Prada EdP, Amber pour homme, and Infusion d'iris are quite lovely.

I'm bummed I lost my small bottle of Prada Amber. It is an odd scent, and I oddly liked it.

I guess I'm late to the show, but smelled 212 for the first time today. Reminds me a lot of Creed GIT.

And I'm bummed I used up my (multiple) bottles of HL edp. What a great scent... perhaps my favorite Maurice Roucel creation (even better than musc ravageur, IMHO!)

Going out tonight with Rive Gauche (parfum/extrait.) Brilliant, daring scent that to me smells less futuristic than what people in 1970 thought the future would smell like. I don't know that it is as timeless as the classic Guerlains, but it feels very much a part of an era that looked much more forward than past.

Today I broke from the normal rut and went back in time with an old bottle of New West. This used to be my everyday scent. Now I have a big bottle and have to be reminded to wear it.

TDC - Rose Poivrée. This is a very different take on a rose scent. Rose, sweaty cumin supported by civet, coriander and a little pepper. Interesting; nothing I see me wearing very often though. Nonetheless it's a good scent.

I never liked HL or Cuiron - sold both of my bottles years ago. I tried really hard to like both but Cuiron gave me a headache and HL was just baby powder to me.

I do have a bottle of Rive Gauche, but it's the edt (I bought it for my wife actually, but I wear it too). I like it a lot, it's similar to Aramis 900/Aromatics Elixir. I'm curious about the parfum. Is it a different scent, or just a different concentration?

Has anyone tried Diptyque's Vetyverio? I find it a very good vetiver and consistent with this house's style.

I like this one a lot. It's probably been over a year since I've worn it, though. Like Dior Homme, it has a distinct women's makeup smell at the top. (I haven't seen reviewers mention that, but to me it's impossible to miss.)

Pre-shower: Chanel Allure Homme. I sometimes use my pre-shower scent to try to appreciate a scent I don't like. I still don't like this one: it's on the wrong side of the line between sweet and cloying.
SOTD: Guerlain Rose Barbare. It's rare that I dislike a predominantly rose scent, but I don't like this one much at all. It's too lush and rich for my taste.

I went through a decant last week - wore it three or four days in a row and loved it.

I've waffled a lot on getting a bottle of TDC's Rose Poivre - definitely one of my favorite florals and something that I've considered heavily in my ideas of creating a perfume.

It's actually a different scent; it was heavily reformulated when TF took over YSL in 2003 or thereabouts and the parfum was discontinued. Both are still good, but the older one has a very unique green-metallic note with a bright does of aldehydes. It creates a very interesting clash, sort of like the original bandit... with the green/synthetic/slightly powdery vibe and a floral heart. Very unique in its own way, but I can see (as I hinted above) why it was reformulated. It doesn't feel timeless, but forward looking for its own time.

Honestly, it looks like what you'd expect something in that metallic blue/silver bottle to smell like, or like Chanel no. 19 poured over the chrome bumper of a '72 Lincoln continental.

SOTD: Guerlain Herba Fresca for a warm sunny day.

SOTN: Chanel - Cuir de Russie parfum. This is great. Simple review (like always from me, lol): it's a very smooth leather scent. The base is balsamic. Probably some rose in there? It has a very slight touch of stink (but maybe it's from the remains of Rose Poivrée?, I guess the former though). Dry and powdery (drydown) at the same time. Some pepper?! Overall just lovely.
Edit: The late drydown, ~8 hours in, is a little too balsamic/powdery/sweet to my taste, though.

Just got home and got a package from India from where I ordered some attars. I just put on the Oodh Agar Perfume which is this beautifully rich fragrance and is as thick as rach's Cartier perfume he was talking about earlier. Seriously, it's like 30-weight motor oil. The shipping is expensive ($30) but I ordered the stuff last week and got it today, quaintly wrapped in this thin cloth and then sewn around the edges to fit the box it was shipped in.

I also ordered the Jadoo and Tilism as well as the Aab-E-Hayaat. I'm really excited about these attars and think that such a compound would work so well in the summer months due to its dependence upon heat to release the smell.

I can't stress to you how much of a great deal I think this Al Ood is. Do I think it's real agarwood extract? Absolutely.
