So I pulled a L'Incandescent and did a "pre shower SOTD" with Samsara EdT. :fu: It reminded me of a million times I sat in a restaurant in the 1990's and had my experience with the food and wine ruined by some woman sitting near me with this **** on.

Today's scent now is L'Artisan Al Oudh. I like this one a lot.

I wish more guys in real life would "pull a L'Incandescent," but alas. :embar:

Also, with apologies to rach, I share your opinion of Samsara.

Master Classter, do you have a vintage bottle of Pour Monsieur? I believe that I am categorically not a fan of Chanel, but happen to really like a few of the offerings, like Pour Monsieur Concentree and Sycomore. I look forward to trying Bois des Iles, though.

nope, just the current EdT formulation off the shelf at the shop. I can see the structure/dna here and it probably would be perfect if you like that kind of combo. of course the current version feels stripped down and doesn't last very long, like they've kept photocopying it over and over...

SOTD: L'DDM... first time actually wearing this believe it or not. Had a decant for about 3-4 years but never got round to wearing it... and you know, it's ok, but I wouldn't say I'm crazy in love. I do fine there's a similar feeling to some of Tauer's other frags, that I just find something too dry and raw about his mixes... so we'll see how this one goes.

Aramis 900 for the last two days. Really like this one. It's a good example of a scent that reveals very little of itself in the opening, but let's itself develop over the whole day. I don't think many modern scents are structured that way - they pump up the opening in order to make an impression at the perfume counter. You only get a dense green herbal blast when you spray this on, and later, in the middle of the day, you realize you're wearing a deep but restrained rose. The clean herbal character remains, but it doesn't dominate like it does at the start.

I sprayed a sample of Diptyque Vetyverio on my wrist today and must say with great disappointment that I do not like it.

Dang - I had actually enjoyed this one (lasted forever too - overnight and into the next afternoon), but now SF-groupthink tells me, "BAD"... :embar:

Just got back from grocery shopping. There's a cashier at my grocery store who sometimes is flirty with me. (It is probably out of a sense of charity: people would not flirt with me spontaneously because I do not have any charms.) She said "ooh, you smell good." I was wearing Le Labo Labdanum 18.

No, I'm going to try it again - I give Diptyque fragrances multiple chances. It's just not what I was expecting, I suppose, but there's already enough smoky, woody vetivers out there.

Haha! I am a people person, so to speak, although my preferences lean in one direction more than the other.

Pre-shower: Divine L'Etre Aime Femme. If this smelled like it does at the very top all the way through its development, it would be among my very favorites. Unfortunately, there's an immortelle note that comes to dominate the whole composition very early in the development. The first 20 seconds or so are just gorgeous, though.

SOTD: Lavender Palm.

Yesterday: Ormonde Woman
Today: Ormonde Man.

Still like these and had OM on my To-buy list for a long time, but I never pulled the trigger so it must not really be love.

OK, not to pry or anything!

This morning I sprayed on my arm Palisander by CdG Red Series. It smells just like sterile latex surgical gloves after a cedary opening.
