Was this the EdP or the Pure Parfum?

Pure parfum. I didn't get the leather whatsoever and was hit by the typical Chanel aldehyde front and then a somewhat powdery 5-6 hour long dry down. It was sure as hell well made but not for me.

^Definitely try BdI, but I'm going to guess you'll find it too creamy and powdery for your liking, given what you've mentioned. Just a hunch... but then again the most amazing thing about the nose is that just based on the notes you can NEVER tell what will happen.

Sorry you didn't like CdR; it's not a leather like what you might expect, though I find it lovely. Definitely powderier, but with some stink. "classic" leathers were quite different from the sharper ones we've got today (Tabac Blond, for example, or the original Bandit) vs. something like Tuscan Leather or Parfum d'empire cuir d'ottoman (or even HL's Cuiron.)

Anyway, tonight going to an Izakaya with colleagues and will smatter on some Mitsouko parfum. Damn this is good stuff. Though the recent EdP and EdT give a sweetness with less of the chypre POW, the parfum has some amazing woods and depth with the peach/fruit note to balance. Easily understood why Turin (and so many others) would call it perhaps the greatest scent in history.

Where can I get decants of Dior, Chanel, Guerlain and Hermès? All the shops I know, like luckyscent or the German ones, just have niche parfums...

PerfumeCourt?

I'm laying in bed, jetlagged and waiting for the alarm to go off at 5:30, but I'm enjoying immensely the deep rounded drydown of AdP Colonia Assoluta I sprayed on when I got home (I found a 3 oz bottle for $40 :slayer:) and am wondering what these basenotes on this scent are all about.

Merci. The shop sucks but they seem to have quite a few fragrances. Does anyone have the current voucher code?

If you friend them on facebook, you'll get regular updates about sales and codes. Also, the company is going to be split up soon--this week, I think. TPC is three women who are based in different parts of the country. One of them is going to continue to operate as TPC and the other two will be opening a new business very soon called Surrender to Chance. (surrendertochance.com.)

I'm wearing Le Labo Labdanum 18 today. It's a cooler, overcast day, so this is perfect. It's in the ballpark of Musc Ravageur, but a bit smoother and even a little sweeter.

Does this mean that the repertory will decrease and split up in the two different businesses? That is, should I order very soon to still get the most out of their selection?

SOTD: Oud oil. So animalic, spicy, sweet, slightly peppery. The pure stuff is just unmatched.

I don't know the answer for sure. I'm pretty sure in the past each of the owners of the business kept a specific part of the total stock. Whenever you ordered from them, you'd get three different deliveries from the different partners. But I don't see how TPC could continue to function as a viable business if its inventory was reduced so sharply. So again, I just don't know. I think if I were you I'd go ahead and order sooner rather than later.

Continuing on a warm, pleasant day with TF Neroli Portofino. Like Azure Lime better.

Cool crisp early spring day in Chicago, heading to Vegas. First geraniums pour Monsieur of the season. I missed those strong mint and anise top notes.

Big fan of Diptyque. Did you smell their new rose scent, Eau Rose?

yep, if it's the one I'm thinking of with the pink packaging, then I found it (sorry) rather boring. It's a simple slightly warm an fresh simple clean rose. Nothing of real note (so to speak) here, and especially considering they have more interesting alternatives I think.
Bummer, most weeks I would be there - I work catty-corner to Bloomingdales on 59th - would totally have met for lunch.
I'm not hip to Diptyque. Is it also on Madison?

well I'll be around until Sunday and could easily make it out to that area.. send me a PM if you want and we'll work out a time and place. IF ANYONE ELSE IS IN NYC AND WANTS TO MEET UP FOR A COFFEE OR TO SNIFF AROUND, PM ME...
the Diptyque boutique that I found was around 78-79 on Madison. Many exclusive fragrances and candles I had never seen before.
PS - "catty-corner"?

Kilian - Incense Oud. Great interaction of oud, rose/labdanum, incense (and apparently some cardamom, too). Something sweet in the base, probably ambre or amber - or just the resin. Actually, Killian isn't much more expensive than Creed if you look at the refill prices

just got a bottle of this actually (refill), once of the nicer recent scents out there IMO. I still think the price of the whole oud series is out to lunch but ignoring price, the juice is pretty good.

Le Labo Santal 33 today.

I didn't really like this the first time I tried it several months ago. But, I put it on today and liked it. It's got kind of a soapy, floral spice to it. Usually I wouldn't think of sandalwood for the spring, but it's fairly clean, so I think it works. Also, since I usually pair my frags with my clothes as well as the weather and mood, here's what I wore today.

Early spring day... chilly and partly cloudy. Not warm enough for a citrus to feel refreshing; not cold enough to need a spice/incense or woodsy scent. Perfect for an aldehyde... but which one? Wasn't feeling L'interdit or No. 5, so went with Fleur de Rocaille extrait (Caron.)

I'm almost finished with my small bottle, and so will try to clean it out this week before it gets too warm. You "manly men" ought to try an aldehyde on days with such weather; I think you'll be surprised how well it meshes, especially if it has a sandalwood, amber, or deep middle and base. It may start off too powdery/floral/grandma-chic, but watch how it develops.

eh, I wear No.5 Premier... I think that counts

today, I'm a scentless apprentice, walking the streets of NYC and following my nose to wherever it takes me.
