I may have to give them the middle finger and bite the bullet on Carnal Flower. I was told last night that both it and PoaL are about to be reformulated.

That's awesome and hilarious. I may have to duck into a Ross someday and smell it. Or not.

I don't know how anyone can wear that! The first time I smelled it I literally thought my sample must have gone bad.

Yesterday, I tried on Aqua Vitae from MFK.  Lasted over 6 hours, way beyond my expectations.  The drydown is really good.

Also sprayed some Lumiere Noire Pour Femme on test paper, and put it on my office desk.  Another amazing piece of work, and I find it even better than the Pour Homme version.

Apart from the Cashmere Oud and Velvet Oud, there is nothing in the MFK line that I dislike.  As I am headed to Paris soon, I think my wallet is in trouble.  Also determined to get some Idole Lubin when I am over there.

^^ Pete, I was in Paris a few months ago and actually went into the MFK boutique. It was tiny but lovely. Resniffed many and ended up with APOM paper incense as a little present. Nearly bought the scent but already own Amouage Reflection and MDCI Invasion Barbare

Did a little comparison testing...

left arm is Michael Kors for men and John Varvatos Vintage. I had assumed both had a dried fruity side, with the former adding tobacco and the latter, leather. Both turned out to be nice. I forgot how sweet and candied the fruit is in the Varvatos and how dry and almost sharp the Kors is. Both somewhat generic but decent and quite cheap price-wise.

right arm is Tom Ford Tuscan Leather and Extreme. I had assumed both were leathers with the former having more herbal tones and sharp smoke with the latter having a fruitier, slightly powdery side. TL has monster projection but after a few minutes I still think that the Extreme is a more refined version and highly recommend it.

The first time I smelled that, I thought it was unbearably bitter and harsh. I got used to it, though, and now it's one of my favorite leathers.

I'm going to go ahead and go with Aventus as my SOTD. Perhaps, even, my SOTYear.
