Saturday Night...

Portrait of a Lady

This frag is stunning

I only use one cologne. Don't believe in owning multiple scents.

The fragrance is unisex but I fell in love the first time I smelt it. Before then I was jumping from fragrance to fragrance.

With Basenotes pausing any registrations I thought I'd get SF's opinion.

I'm looking for a fall/winter fragrance for an 18 year-old. Where I live it's rainy during these seasons and I would like the fragrance to be inoffensive (nothing that's polarizing, but generally loved). I have been looking at the following options:

- Dior Homme Intense

- L'Instant de Guerlain Extreme (impossible to find at a decent price so I may leave this out)

- Pure Havane by Thierry Mugler

- Chergui by Serge Lutens

I haven't smelled these, so this might just be a blind buy (how stupid of me). I'm wondering if these would be too "mature" for my age and therefore, unsuitable. Any other recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks.

I would say TM Pure Malt or Pure Havane are your safest bets.

Personally I very much enjoy pure malt in the cooler months and often receive plenty of compliments for it.

chergui and DHI are two very good scents but probably the most polarising in that a few would argue they can come across with a dated vibe.

I agree with Osiris2012 for the most part. I enjoy Chergui myself, but not everybody does, and so I wouldn't encourage you to blind buy it. Again, DHI is very good, but there are a lot of people who think it's too feminine. If that's a concern for you, then you'd probably want to avoid it.

If you can find L'Instant de Guerlain Extreme at a reasonable price, I would strongly recommend it.

Thank you Osiris and Incandescent. What are your thoughts on the regular DH and LIDG compared to the ones mentioned above?
