Original Santal today

Horns, when people do 500ml/1litre splits, the cost is almost half of retail. I got 50ml in an atomizer shipped to me for $85, retail bottle/box would have cost me $145-165

Pre-shower: Lys Fume
SOTD: Dior Homme, because I am an homme (hombre).

I totally appreciate those economics, and my logic doesn't make much sense to most, but I just like the bottle the perfume is "supposed" to be in.

I understand that completely.

I have the opposite view on that: I have very little interest in having the proper bottles. It's the juice that I care about. That attitude has saved me quite a lot of money over the years.

HORNS, I think Luca Turin even wrote something about Le Labo's naming always being off...

In other news, I scored a couple of minis at the flea market today of Van Cleef & Arpels pour Homme and Eau de Guerlain, as well as a vintage bottle of Ma Griffe for my better half.

And, on the way home I got a chance to check out the entire Aramis Gentleman's line. I have to say if the reformulated versions are that good, the originals must be even better. I was pleasantly surprised...

SOTD: Balenciaga pour Homme
SOTE: VC&A pour Homme

Hardly any of the Le Labo fragrances have the note given in the name as the most prominent note. I've always thought that Bergamote 22 should be called Vetiver 22.

I applied Eau d'Elide to my skin for my eveningtime scent.

It's a day of Hermès for me today: Rocabar as my pre-shower and Rouge as my SOTD.

SOTD: Eau de Guerlain

Speaking of Hermes, has anyone tried Epice Marine yet? I was on my way to the flagship store today to check it out when I realized that it was closed...

I'm a collector, don't get me wrong. I love bottles and even boxes, but with lines like Ford, Le Labo, and Creed, when you can buy flacons and therefore splits are available, it's just too compelling a decision even for me. Le labo 50ml decant $85 versus $150 bottle, Ford 50ml decant $115 versus $200 bottle, Creed 50ml decant $75(?) versus about $160 for just a 30ml bottle.... Those are the only 3 lines where I just can't buy retail, or even an online discounter, it's just too much cheaper. I've got 100+ bottles, so the savings really add up. Plus the other big benefit is I can get say 10-30ml with decants instead of 50-100ml with bottles, and it's often more than enough.

SOTD:  Reflection Man... this may soon be my signature scent.
