Back to Black today. (Many thanks to boo!) I like this a lot. It's a tobacco/vanilla scent, but a lot more complex than other tobacco/vanillas that I've worn. The honey note really takes it in a different direction. A little better longevity would be nice, though.

I think what changed is that it lasted longer. I went sans undershirt with a cotton/linen shirt. When I took my shirt off at the end of the day, the aftermath was still clean and refreshing, not muted and muggy as before. As a final word, I am a strong believer in body chemistry and fragrance. Maybe its not agreeing with you. Today: Byredo Fantastic Man BLANCHE...another one that smells better on me this third time around.

I got to meet Kilian last weekend at Saks and attended a presentation. Actually a pretty interesting guy that has obviously put a lot of thought into his scents (he is not the actual nose but he definitely could articulate his vision). They weren't giving out any samples but I did get to sniff them all - Back to Black was the one I liked best.

trying SMW again. I theory I should really like it but it's just not clicking.

That's my next to like, any reason you don't like it. Today was my first wearing of Erolfa which I'm not impressed with as of yet.

I had a Creed SA try to tell me that Erolfa was the "sensual" version of VIW...

Either way, it's never come off as unique to me.

I stopped in and had and nice long informative listen to Andre today at the Perfumery in San Francisco. I got a lot of his opinions on people/designers that have no perfumery background or actual hands on knowledge of making fragrances. To paraphrase he doesn't think much of the Bastian or Kardashian type of stylists who have a vision and trot out a product with their name on it. He much prefers the productions from the established fragrance houses. He's a little pushy but I have a hard time disagreeing with him.

hmm, well it's probably that I've just found it quite boring. I find the cold metalic note interesting and refreshing for summer, plus some sweet fruity berry component... but other then that I just can't seem to find anything interesting about it. There's no real metamorphasis or drydown that I can detect, nor does it particularly project that I can tell, at least past a few hours. It's lasted about 12-14 hours but after 3-5 it's a skin scent. I guess it's not bad, somewhat interesting, but just not something I have to have. It's a shame because I actually wanted to like this, and get in on the split too. But I just have too many others that I nod my head over and over again smelling going 'yeah that's just soo good' and then this, which I'm just indifferent to. YMMV Tom Ford Grey Vetiver - hmmm, a good entry point for vetiver newbs. It's bright, citrusy, has a good fresh side of vetiver too, maybe a little tobacco/dirt but nothing overwhelming. what it doesn't do is go all smokey, or nutty, or spicey. Very tame, nice enough to be noticed without ever offending anyone. a good blind buy to get into the game. could be your only frag and wouldn't be out of place anywhere. the bottle and box are beautiful too. shame the price has stayed so high.

been wearing Fat Electrician the past few days (thanks again MyTailorIsRich). I've really been enjoying this one... I'm not even sure if its a complimentary scent but its intriguing me and it sits forever on my skin. The woman hates this one, says I smell like her wife beating uncle.

master-classter, I am very interested in GV, might see if there is enough interest to do a split.
