SOTD: Chanel Egoiste again!! Love this stuff.

I really need to look into getting some Egoiste. Would you say it or the Platinum is a better bet?

They are quite different. Platinum reminds me of Drakkar and a host of other similar "fougere" scents. Egoiste is slightly sweet, spicy and woody. My nose gets fatigued from it, so whilst it appears muted to me, people around me can smell it.

Egoiste is not available in Australia.  HK duty free is HK$700 for 100mL, whereas Aussie online sites sell the 50mL for close to that price ie AUD$90. Reviews are mixed, so better to sample first.

Only negative is the bottle sprayer feels a bit flimsy.

I am wearing Marcel Rochas' Moustache today. Looking in the mirror, it's not a very impressive moustache, so I will stick with my own facial hair in future.

It's weird how they'd try to make you believe that his moustache was in a bottle in liquid form. I'm not trying to brag or anything, but I don't think I would have been fooled.

I am wearing L'Air du Desert Marocain today. (Not really Moroccan desert air; just the name of the fragrance.)

Wore that yesterday, I think on your recommendation L'Incandescent. Fascinating scent! Really strong and long lasting too. By the end of the day I think I decided that I like it more in concept than in application. I really liked it, just not so much on me. That's definitely one everyone should try though since it seems so unique (at least in my pretty limited experience).

I must admit, my wife and I have both gotten hooked on the whole decant thing. About half are unisex or for her. Placed a third order of decants:

Didn't realize I ordered 2 of the TF Noir de Noir. Oh well.

^^ A lot of people say that about LDDM, and it's absolutely true. It's not for everyone, but it's worth trying just for its artistic merits.

There's a lot of good stuff in your most recent order! Dzing is a really fun scent; it literally puts a smile on my face whenever I smell it. Equipage is an elegant, old-school classic. I'll be curious to see what you think about Tuscan Leather; it seems to be a polarizing scent. (I'm a fan, FWIW.) Also, Je Suis un Homme is a really nicely done classically masculine scent. It's not "weird" like a lot of ELDO scents.

^^ Le Labo Santal 33 smells like freshly sawn wood planks in a carpenter shop.

I wore this is my eveningtime fragrance. I change my opinion on it pretty nearly every time I wear it. I'll be interested to see what Fred G. Unn thinks.

Got some samples yesterday and put on a heavy dose of French Lover, which is the same as Bois d'Orage, and found it to be a very good vetiver fragrance with the vetiver to be dry, non-dirty, and its edges rounded out with other scents that I'm not sure of. I could see this being someone's "signature scent".

This morning I tried on another Frederic Malle sample: L'Eau d'Hiver, which is a lovely feminine "purple" fragrance - lots of iris and what I now know as heliotrope with the slightest bit of menthol (and I mean slightest) to make it not cloying.

Thanks! The Divine you recommended for my wife was really nice so I thought I'd try a few too. Santal 33 sounds pretty interesting so I'm looking forward to that one. I really liked Ormonde Man so that's why we're trying the other Ormondes and anything named Fat Electrician seems worth trying on name alone (plus I was looking for other vetivers).

I'm not really familiar with Atelier Cologne, but when you can get samples of all 11 of their fragrances for $15 I figured why not?

Anyone know much about them? (L'Incandescent?) A bunch of them sound interesting including Vetiver Fatal and Oolong Infini.
