Today: Declaration. Exactly like Jules.

Wellll, maybe not. I have no idea, having never smelled Jules. (A travesty I plan to address shortly...)

I ponder over what happens when Jules wears Jules. Will Jules smell like Jules? Or will Jules smell like Jules?

Chanel platinum Egoiste today.. Probably tomorrow too! =}

^^^ Is it just me or does Platinum remind you of Drakkar Noir?

Also, just out of curiosity, what do you think of Egoiste?

I am tossing up between FB of Antaeus or Platinum.  We do not have Egoiste in Australia.

recs on finding new scents? used to find a bunch of stuff I liked pretty easily, but has been tough going the last few years and have mostly stuck to my staples.

looking for something clean and fresh but with a bit of a twist/spice for summer. where should I be looking aside from higher end department stores (eg, barneys, saks, etc.)?

Comme des Garcons Harissa might be up your alley.
Another consideration is Dior Granville - it's fresh citrus at first but with an evergreen drydown that still remains fresh.

You seem to like it a lot. Is it really clean and fresh? Honestly, not exactly what I'd think of a fragrance called "harissa".

Egoiste is excellent imo, but nothing like the platinum version. It's pretty spicy with cinnamon dominating the show initially and the dry down is really the nicest stage with sandlewood and creamy vanilla blending well together.

It's actually quite heavy orange and tomato.

Any pungency with regards to the garlic and cumin? Either way, I'll try it when I get the chance to.
It's probably good that it's only "inspired" by harissa. I'm not sure I'd want to smell like harissa.

Definitely "inspired" is the word, and there is no appreciable cumin.

What's funny is that Harissa was composed by B. Duchaufour and is probably one of his lightest creations ever.

Definitely more like pears and olives than Jules. There's more pear than olive, but you can definitely detect a little bit of olive in the background. (No Jules in the background.)
