Today - some random sample from the previous swap with a rubbed off label. It was in a small roll-on bottle with black plastic cap. The frag is very piney and some citrus. Lasts forever on the skin like a full 10 hours. Smells very old school like an Eau Sauvage or old Chanel or something.
ANYONE RECOGNIZE IT?

How do you like the Dries van Noten?

Was your sample Dior Granville by any chance?

Paestum Rose for me today.

Hot day today. Creed Virgin Island Water.

I love the smell of Vol de Nuit vintage parfum, but the projection and longevity was lacking today.

Applied some Vetiver from.. um.. some Italian parfumeur for the evening. Forgot the name and the samples are already packed for my move to Berlin.

Yeah, I wish it had a bit more projection (and staying power) as well...

SOTD: Ormonde Man. I used to *love* this, but lately it's just kind of meh.

This evening: Diptyque Vetyverio - it's kind of a "modern" spin on vetiver with it being present but not on the front lines, which I appreciate because my understanding is that it's difficult to construct a fragrance where vetiver is a "first among equals" as opposed to one that is loudly presenting itself front and center. I would have never, ever guessed it was a Diptyque if I had to smell it blindly.

For the evening hours I have switched into Prelude to Love.

SOTD in the office: Allure Homme (original)

SOTD: Xerjoff 1861 - Finally sort of spring-like the past few days, so some nice citrus to mark the occasion.

I think the Dries is really well done. I smell a number of colors and textures in there and it also lasts forever and projects pretty well too. It's not something I think I'd personally wear much but I can see it being someone's only signature scent. It's sort of hard and sharp but also soft, it's got pinks and browns and yellows... it's partly dry and raspy and partly warm and cozy. Very interesting, and I think quite a departure from Malles general style within his main line.

Hmmm, don't think it was Granville. I think this was just on oldie frag or some vintage juice someone put in the last swap box. Who was the person that put in all those glass roll-on containers? (PS they weighed a ton).

oh that's funny, I'm wearing it right now. I forgot how citrusy this one is, kindof reminds me of Ford's Neroli. I was going to sell the decant but now I'm actually thinking of keeping it for the upcoming summer.

Lutens Rose de Nuit today. I'm disappointed by this one, to be honest.

Really? I love that one. I had a decant that my wife stole and it was probably her favorite scent.

I was very excited to try this, but I should have known it wouldn't be my kind of scent. I rarely enjoy scents with a rose/beeswax or rose/honey accord, and that's the trouble with this one for me. I had a similar experience with Guerlain Rose Barbare.

Frederic Malle Noir Epices today
