You need acerbic yet fresh.

I don't know if they've reformulated it, but I always liked the old Barney's Route du the, which was foul and fresh. If you've gotten lots of pricey commissions this year, go for Malle Bigarade concentree or Cartier Declaration. You might also give the original Kouros a spin this summer or, better yet, Creed Orange Spice.

All stink to high heaven at first, but you just have to trust me. Some others to try might be TDC Sel de vetiver (dopey is a big fan), Guerlain eau du coq (thanks Baron), virtually anything from MPG (maitre parfumeur et gantier) like Racine, Fraiche Badiane, or Secret Melange!

D'orsay Etiquette bleue for me today.

You want him to wear Kouros? In the heat??? Man, you've grown quite sadistic in your absence.

God does Kouros stink! I gave it a try again just because you said but I hardly think it's one for summer. Way too musky.

Cartier Declarations however is a great one and I'll be restocking soon.

*Edit: Rambo beat me to it!

Yes, definitely getting mostly musk now. OTOH, the ladies sitting near me seem to like it.

Who wears Kouros in the cold???? Anyway, it's one of the true greats of male parfumery; puts hair on your chest! lol8[1].gif

But, for the faint of heart, I DID recommend as a better alternative Orange Spice, which is a friendlier orange-ier Kouros with Creed's house notes. Other than Ambre Canelle, Cypres Musc, and Bois de Santal, Creed doesn't make anything decidedly foul (in a good way)

Kouros is, at it's core, a soapy fougere and not really a cold weather scent, per se. It's really heavy on the animalistic undertones, obviously, but in some ways one's approach to that element is cultural. I don't think it's so controversial in Europe, for instance. We Americans are just less accustomed to those notes.

I tried wearing Korous in the 100 degree heat once. I'm pretty sure I was responsible for the decline in pigeons in the park.

A shame... Every time I am in soho I stop by Chanel. They are very friendly. I pick up usually samples of Coromandel, 1932, Cologne or Bois des iles. smile.gif

See, not only did you smell great, but you performed a valuable public service!

Okay, all this YSL chat will make me break out some old-school YSL RG (the one in the blue aluminum can!): aldehydes, jasmine, green leaves, and chrome.
