Scent/Fragrance of the Day thread - Page 1003

Early morning: Creed - BdP
Midday: Jubilation XXV
Evening: Tried two more of Grossmith's newest offerings. Golden Chypre and Floral Veil. Again, ignoring the price tag, they are very good. The Chypre is interesting. "Spicy notes of cardamom and nutmeg are blended into the opening bright citrus accord. Notes of rose, geranium and heliotrope provide a beautiful balance to the vibrancy of the opening, whist the patchouli lends a warm, earthy quality. Dry, smoky vetiver leads seamlessly into a sensual base of woods, amber and musk."
Pretty accurate.
Floral Veil: "Vibrant citrus notes and green accords provide an attractive contrast to the rich floral heart of geranium, rose, ylang, tuberose and vanilla orchid." I suppose it's too grandma-y for some, but it's good nonetheless.

Big fan of this one.

Moi aussi.

The people at Grossmith have an odd sense of what makes a good perfume name! (Yes, I realize that might sound odd coming from a fan of ELDO and TF. But irregardless.) Golden Chypre sounds like something else.

Today Montale Black Oud.
I´m new to ouds, which should not miss?

I haven't tried many either, but I really liked Montale's Aoud Lime. The MFK one I was less impressed by, as it seemed a bit weak by comparison.

I tried out some Montale fragrances for the first time on Sunday and particularly liked Black Aoud and Aoud Leather.

Testing Ambre 114 in the office today, I think it's just OK, so far...

Over the course of a year I have tried a lot of scents and have picked up the following ones.
Any recommendations which other fragrances I might like?

Carthusia - 1681
Lorenzo Villoresi - Acqua di Colonia
Detaille - Aéroplane
Divine - L'Homme Sage
Parfums de Nicolaï - New York
Chanel - Pour Monsieur

Give Creed Bois du Portugal a try. It's similar to PdN NeW York but lighter and more versatile.

definitely seems like Acqua di Parma or one of its variants would be up your alley. Aramis Havana as well.

Yes, AdP - Colonia Intensa and Colonia Assoluta are both fantastic.

I also very much enjoyed one of D.R. Harris' offerings, which is a interesting cologne. I'm not completely sure, but I thin it's Arlington. Fantastic QPR. You can order samples from www.luxurious-britain.de .

I tried AdP Colonia in the past and think it's a good scent.
There are three reasons I still won't be buying.
LV AdC is superior in smell, it fades away faster than Chanel PM, which too I won't be buying again for this exact reason and it is owned by LVMH.
While the third point will remain, I will still give the other products of AdP a shot, thanks for the recommendation.

Is Havana anything like Aramis or Aramis 900?
I don't know whether it is vetiver or the floral tones, but I strongly dislike both mentioned above.

Arlington Cologne sounds interesting.
Will test it along some of the offerings of Penhaligon's, Grey Flannel and Knize Ten.
