hmmm nothing clearly planned yet but I'm thinking around late January / early February once my jobs a little quieter and I also have time to work through my own sample bag to put in there.

SOTD: Jubilation XXV, but the real star of the show was the Diptyque coffret of Oliban, Opoponax, & Feu de Bois that was burning all day...

Until then, Burr is going to come out looking the worse any time the two are together.

I LOL'd at this, but also think that Burr's strength comes out in the longer-form pieces, as well as the art of distilling the recondite into something that the layman can follow.

Yesterday: A-Men Pure Havane (Thanks Rambro) for a day that started at 2 a.m. and ended rather late, with a 40-degree drop in temperature from morning to evening.

Today: a cold, blustery day, not supposed to get above 50. Amber Absolute.

Just ordered a bottle of Le 3' Homme as well as a canister of Rive Gauche for $67.50. I've been going by shops and smelling these two scents month after month, wishing I could add them to my collection because they are so good, so classic, and to me very important reference scents.

Suppose you were to go to a first interview for a senior position at a top asset management firm on Wall Street. What scent will you pick to convey power, integrity and old money, yet have an interesting but not too bold twist ?
Follow up question: will you stick to the same scent for the following interviews ?

I am debating AdP Colonia vs. Pour Monsieur vs. Eau Sauvage....

My policy is to not wear any fragrance for interviews. You run the very big risk of the interviewer(s) disliking your scent, in which case you make a potentially very bad impression. On the other hand, it seems there's very, very little potential upside. I prefer to play it safe.

Pre-shower: Rossy de Palma Eau de Protection
SOTD: Bois 1920 La Vaniglia

A valid point. But regular body perspiration under pressure of relentless questioning can also become an issue... So I wouldn't pick something too forward. I have been on the other side of the table and I do respond favorably to candidates with nice scents as it sends the message they care about themselves therefore are more likely to be precise and proud of their work. Even if I am partial to the scent they chose. (Ok maybe not if they showered in CK one...)

By the way I LOVE La Vaniglia, and all Bois in general I find them superbly crafted. I have yet to smell Come L'amore...

When I first tried La Vaniglia, I was absolutely in love with it. In fact, it was my favorite fragrance for a while. The very top is just amazing. I find that it becomes a bit flat after that, though, and I don't like that quite as much. Still definitely a fan of the scent.

I think all three of your choices convey what you mean to convey very well. In addition, have you thought about Equipage? I don't know why, but to my mind that's got a strong old-money feel.

Interesting combo today, L'Inc. What are your opinions on both of these?
