Yes, Rambo sent me a sample of this once. It's quite a complex scent, not a straightforward vetiver by any means. There's a rich, candied fruit note--I think it's apricot--that's quite prominent. There's also a black tea note and some leathery smokiness. I think the perfumer was trying amplify all the different facets that are present in vetiver. I think it's absolutely worth a try.

Pre-shower: HdP Petroleum. Still don't like it.

SOTD: Jour dHermes. As I've mentioned before, I like this one very much. Reviews at the major perfume websites are generally very positive too. I had given my initial review before any of those appeared, and I noticed that what I said was pretty much in line with what most of the reviewers said. Glad to know I'm not too idiosyncratic!

It's pleasant if you like ginger.. Fresh and light. A bit over peppery for my taste. It feels more like something I would wear in May than in December... A (poor) distant cousin of Montale Embruns d'Essaouria, which I much prefer.

Today: L'Artisan Coeur de Vetiver Sacre - I like this one a lot, actually, and thanks, L'Inc for your input.

Does your experience of this one resemble mine?

Anyone have any suggestions for a good sampler package I could order? Haven't had any cologne that wasn't bought as a Christmas gift for years, and would like to find some that I actually like.

Yeah, it does. It is one of the few vetivers that has this note as a backup and not screaming to the forefront, and the rich fruitiness reminds me of the leather-fruity note in Tuscan Leather. It's a very good scent and I'm surprised it doesn't get more chatter than what it does.

Killian discovery set is a great option.

Amouage's. Surprisingly good value for a sampler pack.
