Yesterday: Portrait of a Lady. Today: Armani Privé Bois d'Encens.
I received about half of my decants yesterday, so I'm going to be slowly working through them over the next few weeks. (I also picked up a couple Hermessance samples —Vetiver Tonka & Poivre Samarcand—and checked out Jour d'Hermes as well.)
On wearing PoaL I found it to be a gorgeous, busty, jammy & citric rose with the patchouli beautifully balanced. Symphonic; it reminded me of Amouage Homage in it's depth and scope. I *love* smelling this stuff, but I'm not sure if I can wear it—overall it seemed disembodied, like it wasn't part of me but instead just laying on top of my skin.
Bois d'Encens: Smooth, dry, frankincense smoke in a freshly cut super-resinous cedar trunk. Back in the mid 90s, I would buy those bubbly chunks of frankincense and burn them with abandon. My house probably smelled like a head shop (not too far from the reality at the time!
) so it brings back, uh, interesting memories....
