Scent/Fragrance of the Day thread - Page 927

After a full day of No. 22, I'm a big fan. Lots of warm golden floral incense in the dry down. It's really a gorgeous perfume, and there's something unique and special about quality parfum, the way it lingers and develops through the day while staying close to the skin. Good stuff.

And there's no reason I won't do a total about-face on MKK, either, I suppose. My first impression was not pleasant, however. Probably more associative than anything.

Give Rien from Etat Libre d'Orange a try.. leather rather than musk with a healthy dose of animal

Yesterday: Oud 27 Strangely I'm not as much a raving fan as I once was.
Today: Goutal Ambre Fetiche. Still a winner

Today: Histoires de Parfums 1828.

I always figured this was a summery fragrance because of the slight Cool Water (dihydromyrcenol?) note, and wore it as such. But right now, the sweet nutmeg spice in this is perfect for a chilly day. I'm really liking it.

I'm highly suspicious of Le Labo. I was a big fan of both Rose and Patchouli when I sampled them, then I grew to detest both once I got decants. I don't know if the juice degrades or if it's something else, but something about that line is screwy.

Is this based on yesterday's impression or have you tried it a few times and noticed that you don't like it as much anymore?

I think they mix it in the store while you wait (or on ordering, I guess...) Perhaps the aroma chemical/base amounts could be slightly different each time depending on who's blending? I would think that their business model wouldn't allow for that kind of potential difference, but who knows...

Oh, I never liked Rose and ended up giving it away. Labdanum, likewise. But the Oud has stayed pretty much the same.

Well, that's a tough question to answer, there were times when I forgot I had it, despite seeing the bottle (cap) every day. So I guess it got elbowed out a bit - by what I don't know. It's not noticeably different from before, but I just care less about it. I used to sniff my wrist and stare into space when I wore this, but now...nope.

Actually, I'm not sure I enjoy any of them as much as I used to. I think I know why, too, but that's a topic - or a series of topics - for another day.

The whole Le Labo ownership and business model are all very annoying to me, but I still love several of their scents. Yes, they do blend the perfume in-house for each individual, which does not account for the time it traditionally takes for perfumes to macerate. Also, I find it annoying when there are variations between "batches" of perfumes like what is discussed about Creed as well as here with Le Labo.

Thomas, have you tried Patchouli 24 many times? I really like that scent and am going to acquire it sometime in the future. I find it to be a heavy duty leather scent that lasts for hours and hours. Actually, all the Le Labos have longevity on me.

I really like SMW. It doesn't last as long as I wish it would, however.
