Cool and overcast (thankfully) both today and yesterday, Sables today (very dry, + i don't find the curry note in this to be anywhere near as strong as the one in eau 'indian buffet' noire). Sycomore yesterday.

Sprayed a sample of TDC Sel Vetiver tonight. I like it - It has a quite the silage and longevity. The drydown is, to me, white musk-dominant with some vetiver and a little softness from what seems like vanilla or a variant of that smell.

a bit chilly today, overcast, felt like a day for Antaeus.

So yesterday I wore Odeur 71 for a "full body wearing" and also brought the bottle to work to ask some of the receptionists as well as colleagues what they thought the scent reminded them of. I kept getting positive comments as well as the perfume reminded them of something that they couldn't put their finger on it. After me throwing out the usually suspected notes, like a printer or hot electrical equipment, one of them finally realized that it smelled like a cathode ray tube television that has been left on for a long time, and everyone else said "yes!" that is what it reminded them of as well.

The dry down is still with me and is a strange incense/burnt something smell. Last night my wife thought that I had been smoking cigarettes.

Wow. I'd tried it but never thought of it in those terms. Then again, I was only working from a sample.

SOTD: Went with Hinoki/CdG.

To me, Odeur 71 smells like a light bulb that has just burned out. I can't honestly say I enjoy the scent.

Today is a bit of a girly day for me:

Pre-shower: Divine L'Inspiratrice
SOTD: Diptyque Eau Rose

Is that the smoke that's produced while the bulb is burning, or the anger/fear/annoyance when you try to turn it on, realize its out, and have to fumble around in the dark to find the next light?

Hmm, I never did an experiment that isolated those two variables. I hope I don't smell like Odeur 71 when I become angry!

Or a burnt lightbulb

Slumberhouse Kote today.

I dug out a forgotten decant of DK Fuel for my short business trip, wearing it today. I don't often wear this style of sweet dried fruit scent, but this one is pretty good.

Today, I'm going to try some different ones: Hermes Vetiver Tonka this morning on my right wrist. Later, I will put on some Francis Kurkdjian Oud to see if it is worth being on my wish list.

I've used the FK Oud a few times in the past and put it on a few hours ago. Man, it is one expensive mediocre perfume and to me had the female market in mind. The drydown is OK, but you have to endure three hours of heavy sweetness.

Gents,

I am looking for inspiration to get a nice fragrance for my wife.
She likes fresh woody citrusy 'young' scents. (Her all time favorite is Chanel chance)

I was thinking about Creed Love in white but would gladly consider inspired opinions.

SOTD: Amouage interlude. Still loving it. I am afraid I will need a bottle.
