(One worry, though: I'm not much of a civet fan. I can deal with a tiny amount, but at this--admittedly n00b--stage of my fragrance education, it's something I'm just not into .I fear my Mouchoir de Monsieur experience in the heat of summer has perhaps turned me off of civet for good...)

To my nose, Rien isn't anywhere near as civety as MdM.

I am inclined to make that a euphemism for something.

I don't think Tuscany is the right thing then. Maybe something more along the lines of M7. Have you tried Yatagan?

Cuir Mauresque today, Mure et Mûsc yesterday

This was one of my first loves in perfumery. I gave my bottle to an ex who really liked it, though, so I don't own it anymore.

Pre-shower: Dior Cologne Royal. A high quality take on the cologne genre, very crisp, bright, and fresh.
SOTD: Chinatown. Anyone who does not like this is of false mind. Also, it has one of the most beautiful bottles in fragrancery. (Made up word.)

I had some time early this morning, so I sprayed a bit of I Profumi di Firenze Tobacco on the back of my hand. Honestly, I didn't smell "lit pipe" (per LT) at all, more like a bright soapy herbal incense (if there even was incense...) Smoky tobacco was nowhere to be found. I need to put more on to be sure, but again another fragrance that didn't live up to the hype...

I want to reiterate that this stuff is *soooooapy*, like it could be in the demeter line (and not be an obnoxiously rank bathroom cleaner like "Pure Soap"). In fact, when I went in to the Men's room at work this morning, I realized that this is the exact soapy scent of the bathroom cleaner our company uses (and that I've always liked the smell of...) I wonder which aldehyde (or combination of aldehydes) it is?
