That really is a great scent. I'm not willing to pay the absurd prices that are being charged for it now, but if it were more reasonably priced I'd almost certainly have some.

I switched into Messe de Minuit for the evening. Rambo has been applying peer pressure to get me to try the CdG Incense series, so I decided to put myself in the incense mood. I didn't like Messe de Minuit the first few times I tried it, but I'm liking it more and more.

Home alone in my cashmere hoodie with it raining outside - Mitsouko parfum on my left wrist.

I got mine at Creed's boutique in Paris, back when it was just expensive, not ridiculously expensive. Sad that they aren't ever going to make any more.

Bois d'Argent from the Dior Collection Privee has a very prominent myrrh note. I think it's definitely worth a try. Also Vraie Blonde by Etat Libre d'Orange has a very strong myrrh note. Full disclosure: I dislike Vraie Blonde pretty intensely, but there are lots of people who think highly of it.

After three straight days of Knize Ten, I went with Timbuktu today. This was one of the first full bottles that I bought when I first started getting interested in fragrances a year or so ago ( I think the first was Sycomore...) I haven't worn it much lately because the mad dash of explorations and purchases kept giving me other reasons to wear other scents, and also because it wears pretty close to the skin on me so I kind of forget about it. Today, however, I really sprayed it on----probably 5 or 6 sprays----and went for a walk in Manhattan. I rediscovered how great this is, and I plan on wearing it more. (OK, so 6 sprays is perhaps too much to wear to work, but I think 3 or 4 might do the trick...)

Pre-shower: CdG Guerilla 2. I don't think I'm ever going to come around to liking this one. I smell it as vegetably (tomato leaf in particular) even though there's nothing in the notes that suggests that.

SOTD: Acier Aluminium. This is one of my favorites from Creed; it's a big, masculine fruity chypre, even though that might sound like an oxymoron. I don't wear it nearly as often as I should.

SOTD:  Davidoff Cool Water EDT Spray

Cheers,

Musc Kublai Khan today. We have this in a bell bottle and I apply it with the bottle lid. Going on like this, it's a surprisingly gentle scent, floral and soft musk. Certainly animalistic, but nothing crazy. Whenever I sample this from a spray bottle I'm shocked by the top notes. I'm not sure there's anything else as aggressively poopy than MKK from a sprayer.

Wore Ouarzazate again today, and I love it, but it is really short-lived. Worth it, though; it makes walking through a medieval city in a flight jacket that much more romantic.

Tried Oud Cuir d'Arabie again tonight, and it's...ehhh. It has sort of a nice post-coital funk to it that I'm definitely down with, but there's some sort of DEET-smelling aspect that I find unpleasant. Since I haven't tried many things, I don't know if it's the Oud I like, or the cuir, or whatever makes up the Arabie. Not a winner, but again, if anyone has any thoughts as to where to go from here, they'd be much appreciated.

It's got a powerfully iodine quality to it for the first hour or two and then softens out. I like the iodine quality, but understand completely why others would not and would end up not being patient enough to endure this first phase to get to the softer leather phase, or whether or not the second phase is worth the first.

Is it the leather that I'm smelling after it calms down? Leather and vanilla, maybe? I am sort of jonesing for the kind of raunchiness it has once it smooths out. It's like, close, so close. Heady. The last two days, I've started out intrigued, but been turned off by the Deet, or iodine I guess; and then a couple of hours later (like now) I have my wrist glued to my nose like some sort of sociopath.

Uh-oh! (I mean for the people around you.) Can you describe what it smells like to you?
