Scent/Fragrance of the Day thread - Page 874

Found a local Serge Lutens retailer and got a couple of samples. I hadn't tried anything other than Borneo previously.

Fille en Aiguilles and Daim Blonde stood out to me as pretty good.

Also applied some Ambre Sultan while I was there. Damn this stuff is nice! It's the kind of thing I'd apply to my wrist and periodically sniff while watching a movie at home (is that weird?). shog[1].gif

^no, not weird at all. Given what I know about Ambre Sultan (and Amber Absolute and Ambre Fetiche), I'd be huffing away as well.

Agreed. Great scent. Great just for enjoying on your own. Like Memo - Manoa and so many others.

Ordered a sample of these:

Very excited... smile.gif

Just applied some Serge Lutens - Arabie for the evening. I never noticed the extrem cola note in the opening, lol.

This evening: Vol de Nuit Parfum

Pewpy! Iris! Carnation? Sandalwood?

Parfum or EdP?
Sorry, its parfum. They apparently do not have an EdP for this.
Ok, didn't know that. I was just wondering because you wrote EdP on the last page (samples). Please try the EdT sometime and tell me what you think how they compare!

Ambre Sultan for me today. Likely Muscs Koublai Khan for the evening.

Really? It seems like I remember all the vintage Guerlains being available at the flagship store in all three concentrations, apart from Apres l'Ondee, which is only available in EDT.

According to http://www.guerlain.com/int/en/base.html#/en/home-parfum/catalogue-parfums/women-fragrances/parfums-femme-voldenuit/ , nope. At least not anymore?

Monsieur Guerlain doesn't have an EdP of it either.

"Vol de Nuit EdC 200 ml, EdT 250 ml, Parfum 80 ml, Parfum 60 ml, Parfum 125 ml, Parfum 30 ml, EdT 200 ml (demonstration "sucrier" bottle)"

Well, it's been over 4 years since I was there and I'm old with poor memory...

New York Oud for my last day in Buffalo (which is in New York, although not the New York that the people at Bond No. 9 meant, but irregardless.)

I'd be astonished if Guerlain had never released an EdP of Vol de Nuit, they never seem to miss those sorts of opportunities. That said - as with Habit Rouge Legere, or Vetiver pour Elle or 180 Ans, or even Guet-Apens - it could have been a short-time deal, severely limited distribution, or just erased for various reasons. (Guet-Apens being an odd case I pick just to highlight JPG's pettiness)

Thanks for showing my collection photo :-) You can read more about Vol de Nuit at http://monsieurguerlain2.blogspot.dk/2008/06/vol-de-nuit.html - it was never made as PdT/EdP. Only the most popular classics were issued as PdT/EdP.

Hey, welcome! I hope I made it clear enough that the picture was from your website. wink.gif BTW, great website, it helps a lot.
Hopefully you'll stick around a little longer. We have a few Guerlain fans over here, too!
I'd like to hear your opinion on the current Vol de Nuit EdT! Especially in comparison to the (vintage) parfum.

Anyway, I eventually decided to go with Muscs Koublai Khan for the evening and, like always, it doesn't disappoint. It could probably be a touch less biting. But I really like it overall.

^^ I imagine you saying that in the voice of Chandler Burr when he first smells Womanity: "Does. Not. Disappoint." (This was in that BBC fragrance documentary the name of which I forget.) MKK is wonderful stuff, IMO; definitely a top-ten fragrance for me.
