Scent/Fragrance of the Day thread - Page 864

Hei, by Alfred Sung

This is my go-to, nothing fancy, but I thought it was appropriate for today's unseasonably warm and wet day here in the Mid-Atlantic, almost like late April.  Light but crisp woody earth tones, fresh greens and jasmine, with a hint of lavender and musk on either end.

My gf is somewhat more seriously into fragrances than I am; I appreciate and have a decent nose, but I use very little variety.  I'm slowly cruising through here to see what you all go for.

Montale - Red Vetyver. Similar notes to Terre de Hermes but for me probably just has the edge.

I just have the current Diorella and no comparison to the older ones. Two hour in, it's aldehydic with some stink, citrus and woods. Quite nice!

I've heard that many times before about the comparison of the two, but I don't get the vetiver in the TdH. But, BUT I haven't tried Red Vetyver.

The Diors I've tried I happened to really like but noticed that they were all quite the Technicolor scents.

To my nose, Red Vetyver at the very top smells a lot like TdH after the orange starts to dissipate. But then after the open of Red Vetyver, I find that it goes in a different direction, and no longer smells so much like TdH. As vetiver-dominant scents go, I like Red Vetyver a fair bit, but it's not FBW.

Wearing it as my pre-shower scent. Haven't decided yet on SOTD.

Thanks, L'Inc.

Anyone tried Les Nez perfumes?

Cafe Rose today. As I mentioned the other day, this is far and away the best of the new PBs.

I really want this one. Do you find the coffee note to be prominent? I've read some people saying they think it's pretty light.

I went to the Saks perfume counter today and when asked what they could help me with, I just said, "I don't think I want to buy anything today, I was just hoping to get a bunch of samples." and the very nice sales assistant got a small Saks bag and filled it with about 16 sample bottles. Mostly Bond and Creed though. I didn't think it would be that easy for some reason.

To be honest, I don't detect any coffee at all. I should add, though, that I hardly ever pick up supposed coffee notes. Nonetheless, I'm really enjoying this a lot. I think I understate how good it is just by saying it's better than the other three new PBs. It's excellent on its own terms.

Did you get Chinatown? That one's amazing, IMO.

Is it safe to buy cologne on ebay from 100% and few thousand feedback sellers? I know it is never 100% safe, but not sure if I am being paranoid here. What have your experiences been like?

It's hard to speak authoritatively about this, but my sense of things is that it really depends on what you're buying. If you're buying Creed, then I'd be very hesitant to do it on ebay. Same for very, very popular fragrances like Acqua di Gio, One Million, Le Male, etc. On the other hand, there are some fragrances that you wouldn't make money counterfeiting, so you can be reasonably confident that they're legit, especially if the seller has 100% positive feedback.

I was planning on bidding on Tom Ford Tuscan Leather (go figure why I am looking for a deal) nod[1].gif

Its a UK seller with over 1000 feedback and 100% positive.
