Amouage - Lyric Man as SOTD. Today, I enjoyed it very much. 55°F, mixed weather (rain/overcast/a little sun).

Today: Knize Ten. It's cold and foggy. My throat hurts. I need something warm and unctuous.

holy cow. I can't plow through that many in a month.

Today: Polo green. It wasn't cold enough for the heavyweights, but not so warm as to warrant, say, Pampelune.

I noticed TDH is on topic at the moment. Has anyone had experience with the EDP? Also if anyone out there has a bottle of CDG Hinoki 1 lying around I will happily take it off their hands..

Been saving her for the first cool day of autumn in my last week of living in Nippon.

I have to say, if it weren't for this thread, I would have never gotten into fragrance like I have. I asked you guys' advice on some things about two years ago and I have been buying decants constantly since then. Thanks, I think..

I just got Dior La Collecion Vetiver today and I'm trying that out. Pretty conservative so far. Also got some others from the exclusifs collection in the mail today but haven't tried them yet. I was so impressed with leather oud that I wanted to get all of them.

I only know the Exclusifs version of No. 22, and I think it's just stunningly beautiful. I really have to try the parfum.


I'm not a vetiver fan, but I find the Dior Vetiver quite wearable, mainly because it's not as prickly as other vetivers. (I'm thinking especially of Sycomore.) I like the citrusy notes at the top especially. My favorites from that collection are Ambre Nuit, Oud Ispahan, and Eau Noire. Leather Oud is quite similar to Oud Ispahan; I'm a little surprised they have both in the same collection.

@hrb: The parfum and the edt are very similar, but I'd say the rough edges in the edt are rounded off a little more in the parfum. For me, that's a good thing; others really like the rough edges in the edt.

The Les Exc of n.22 reminds me of the old EdC; you get the basic gist but it plays up the creamy, sweet aldehydes. The old EdT was closer to the spirit of the parfum, with the incense very clear in the base. It was produced until quite recently in the plastic canister bottles: no. 5 was black, no. 19 was gray (then brushed metal), and no. 22 was white.

Obviously, the parfum is the way to go, but given the difficulty in finding it and the $$$, if offered 5mls of parfum vs. 50 of (old) EdT, I'd take the EdT.

Just got my 15 ml bottle of vintage Mitsouko Parfum in the mail today!!! It's stunning and I'm so happy I held off until I had the opportunity to get the pre-restriction perfume version.

To Baron below: I'm also curious to hear if anybody can compare. I've had only the older Diorella, which I love, and if the current version is close, I'd snag in a heartbeat. That being said, I've read/heard that it's a more than a reformulation (more like a "reinterpretation"), which scares me.

L'interdit was re-released in the early 2000's as a "re-interpretation" and the aldehydic floral with a hint of fruit became Bath&Body works strawberry shampoo. No thank you.

Can anybody comment on the version of Diorella that's available today? I've been wanting to get a bottle but would appreciate any guidance on whether to look for a vintage bottle and also any comments on the differences between the concentrations.
