T, L'inc, Rambo, Horns and other old timers of this thread will agree (I'm sure), but damn... SOTD has been great lately. I'm not sure if it is a testament to the hard work of some posters in spreading the love of off-kilter scents or if it's just the wider availability of good juice... but we've really come a long way since its origins.
Great job, guys, and keep up the good work.
In particular, what impresses me is (1) the willingness to ignore marketed "gender" of scents, (2) expansion beyond brand/fashion/mass market scents easily available, (3) not much belief in the CREED hype, (4) expansion beyond "fresh" or "clean" scents, and (5) a willingness to see scent as important a part of a wardrobe as shoes, shirt, or tie.
If you read the first few pages of this thread, or other threads on scent from 2005-2008, you'll see that 1-5 were rarities. That largely it's become second nature here really shows a lot of progress. Seriously, in some of the older threads, members who posted elsewhere about the $1000 pair of shoes they'd just bought would say something like, "scent is lame" or "what a waste of time/money." No more! The sniffers are in charge of the field.
Chanel Gardenia for me tonight. Unfortunately it's quite rare in concentrations larger than the current watered-down Les Exclusifs (which I don't recommend), and even in other forms not particularly outstanding. BUT, it's a hot, humid night and I'm in the mood for a rich, warm floral. SO, it was a good pick...
