Scent/Fragrance of the Day thread - Page 824

Eau Sauvage for a hot, dry day today. Damn this is good stuff. Very short lived, yes... though the base stays longer than you'd think. Nevertheless, nothing is going to get it to maintain that wonderful spicy stink for as long as you'd like without reapplication. I've moisturized, I've tried the rhythm method, I tried pointing north. NOthing works. BUT, while it's there, it's wonderful. Comparing it to other summery, woody, spicy citrus scents and you see Roudnitska's genius. Like a very good meal, the flavors are all there, but they don't just mesh together. They retain a bit of independence, so you have an obvious citrus/lemony note... and an obvious woody note at the base... and in the middle a unique, warm spice note... almost like a curry or something. Very lovely, and I can go through double-digit spritzes in a day.

Today: CdG Harissa
This evening: Crown Eau de Quinine - man, I really like this stuff. I tried Sandringham but didn't like it nearly as much as the former.

Was ill most of last week, so took a break from scents.
Sunday, Creed BDP
Monday, Heritage
Tuesday, Heritage again
today, Antaeus
The weather is starting to cool off nicely, so it feels right to bring out some of these scents.

Morning: Une Rose Vermeille. I was disappointed with this at first, but after a couple of wears I came to like it. I just finished my sample today, though.
Afternoon: Amouage Gold Woman

Hope you're feeling better, tps.

Oh, come on... knocking people out in the office is one of the hidden pleasures of scent. Just make sure you knock them out with quality and not with synthetic bergamot and a lot of fake oud (haha)

Poivre Piquant today. I got this with a ton of other samples, so it sometimes gets lost in the mix. Wearing it again today, I remember just how much I like it.

I really wish they made a concentrated version that wouldn't vanish in 1 hour.

I never got into the pepper scents. I have a decant of Poivre Samarcande that vanishes right out of the bottle. It's like - did I apply yet? HMMM can't tell. (it's a roll-on)

today, POLO GREEN. I left a couple of buttons of my shirt unbuttoned, too.

Rose 31. It's nice enough but I think I expected more given the hype train behind it. Hope it grows on me.

I couldn't agree more. IMO, that's the only downside of this scent.

That's how I feel about Rose 31 as well.

My theory on the hype is that men get this rose scent that is muted and plays a wingman to other components so you can wear a "rose" while still being a dude. But that's OK because it might be the gateway into floral scents and the blurring of lines between "masculine" and "feminine" for people.

No pun intended, but it might be "rose wine" of the perfume world as it makes a product more approachable to some.
