I'll say it: New Haarlem.

Awesome thanks guys. I can see this habit getting very expensive, very quickly... Think I'll try Rochas Man first since it's so inexpensive and then if I'm still liking the coffee thing maybe give New Haarlem a shot.

Looking for a good summer scent too. Anything in particular I should try to get samples of that you guys have had success with?

New Haarlem and Rochas Man are similar scents. In fact, they're both by the same perfumer (Maurice Roucel). But Rochas Man is much cheaper. I personally prefer New Haarlem, but Rochas Man is definitely a good place to start.

As regards summer scents, I'll give the same advice I always give: Hermes Un Jardin sur le Nil. Un Jardin sur le Toit is also excellent, and has a bit better longevity IME.

Along the same lines as New Haarlem and Rochas man are Body Kouros, A*Men and Yohji Pour Homme (if you can find it). I only sampled it a could of times, but the A*Men might have been my favorite, though I am a big fan of New Haarlem too.

Just realizing that a while back I had a sample of Hanae Mori for Men EdT and I liked it enough to write the name down. Thinking of ordering some of this as well, but some of the reviews I'm reading are calling at least the EdP version a gourmand similar to Rochas Man.

Is the HM going to be too similar to the Rochas Man to justify owning them both? How do the EdT and EdP versions compare to each other and to the Rochas?

Both HM edp and Rochas Man are sweet gourmands, but other than that they are very different fragrances. Are you buying samples or full bottles?

Also, +1 to Baron's suggestions. You might be interested in A*Men Pure Coffee, although that's hard to find. The regular A*Men might interest you too. Body Kouros is definitely worth checking out. I'm not a big fan myself, but that's because the eucalyptus note really stands out too much for me. Other people don't experience that note so strongly.

Summer scent: well, there's tons of those out there. One that I'm waiting on a sample for, is getting good comments and really cheap is Ferre Bergamotto Marino. Should know more in a week or so.

For the more inexpensive options, like the Rochas, I will probably end up buying a full bottle. It usually takes me more applications than I can get out of a sample to really determine whether I like a scent. I figure it's better for me go for a full bottle and sell the remainder on B&S if I end up not liking it.

As for Yohji, I had two bottles back in the day... a 50ml and then the 100ml (which was oddly shaped and big, like a track relay baton). I kept wanting to LOVE it, but just never did... though it was quite good (and would have been fine had it been regularly available). For the amount of effort it took to get a bottle, I didn't think it was worth it. In any case, I traded away both my bottles... for some Chamde, IIRC.

Givenchy III for me today. Almost finished up with this bottle as well.

>82°F first time this year. Acqua di Parma - Colonia Intensa it is. I still have to figure out what to wear tomorrow at a similar temperature (medium humidity). Something that has great longevity (i.e. 12 hours or so). Tough task, I guess.

^Regular or extrême? Which do you prefer?

Regular. I've never tried the extreme, so I can't say which I prefer. I hardly ever wear this because I find the longevity and projection to be very poor. I enjoy the scent itself, but I don't love it.
