Alright, fall's approaching, (I actually busted out a hoody yesterday; how I managed to actually have one that fit me is beyond me) and my t-shirts that I recently got which fit me (all smalls now) no longer will cut it in the cold. My sloppy over sized sweatshirts are going to be replaced now that I'm a little more conscious of what I'm wearing. Because I'm a poor college kid, I think I'm going to start with just some basic AA hoodies, but I'm not sure what fit to go about getting and what a hoody should really fit like. I'm 6', 165, but most of my weight is in my legs and...rear...I have about a size 35-36" chest. I'm currently looking at the stripped fleece zip hoody in Metal Grey/Bright Purple or the California Thermal Lined in Asphalt and navy. Or maybe even one of these crazy polka dot ones if I'm feeling a bit crazy and want to layer it with a thin striped polo under it. I'm leaning towards small, however some of the "reviews" from their site have spooked me a little. Also, this thread has me a bit torn between the length, and the fit around the chest. P.S. If anyone has a promo code/ SF affiliate code or a way to get these on the cheap, that'd be awesome.

Unless you want to look like a 14 year-old, get a M. Also be sure to use our brand-new function to the forum: Search!

These bitches shrink like crazy. Even the medium is too small for me once shrunken in the wash. I might have to go for a large next time.

I am 158, 5'11''.

Yeah, I don't want to come off as an asshole here, but I actually did a search and believe it or not linked to that exact thread in my original post. (Last paragraph)

While I understand they size down, I have a fairly small chest and most of my sweatshirts now fit length wise, they just balloon out. I also wanted to get some opinions on the different sweatshirts which is why I posted a new thread as opposed to replying to that other one.

Not to sound like an asshole myself, but you've got a 36" chest and AA's small hoodies fit 34"-36". Unless you want a skin-tight hoodie that fits short on you, go medium. I'm only echoing what everyone else has already said.

As far as color/style, no one's going to be a better judge of what you wear than you. The style around here is to keep things plain but YMMV.

Are hoodies different than say, a sport coat when labeled by chest size? If I were to buy a 38" sport coat I'd look like a fool.

Sport coats don't shrink as notoriously as AA clothing does. Also when you buy a 38R sport coat, you're USUALLY not getting a 38" chest but actually something more like 40-41" because it's not meant to fit skin tight.

An inch or two extra on this hoodie will not kill you. A medium fits me very well but I would not be drowning if I bought a large.

To clarify when I said they shrink - the chest is FINE with a medium but the length just shrinks so much that it will be riding up above your pants. Do NOT go small. Trust me. Get ONE medium hoody, wash it a few times, and see how it fits. Then go for the large if need be. Do not invest in more than one piece of AA clothing before testing it for shrinking.

Medium. I'm 6ft 160 and a medium is a bit too big for me but the small is too small for me. Oh well. I don't think a small would work on you. However, you can buy from wholesalers on ebay for almost half the price and get a small and a medium and then sell whichever one doesn't fit you the best on this website and probably get a good amount of your money back.

Medium. end of story.

If you want to ask for advice and then ignore it, then that's your problem.

Sorry if this hasn't been covered before but does anyone know the exact measurements of how much they shrink in the chest?

Edit: Oh yeah...and Flex Fleece, California Fleece, and California Thermal-Lined. Which are your favorites?
