Is it still possible to get deer shoes?

The question may look a bit stupid but nubuck has replaced deer since the nineties in Europe...
It is now impossible to find real deer as the sale of their skins is banned in Europe for more than 10 years...

Is it possible to get shoes from the USA or JAPAN?

in the US yes but for my knowldge only as bespoke. My cowboy boot maker Uses the material sometimes.

I have a pair of Varvatos shoes in deerskin, however they are casual boots. I'm not sure about dress shoes.

I remember seeing in GQ like 2 years ago about a company that produced something like 60 pairs of shoes from these reindeer/caribou skins they found stored somewhere.

Deerskin or stag suede ("daim"), which is what I believe you mean, is harder and harder to find. EG used to make a few models in it ten or twenty years ago, but more recently has said it's hard to find good quality skins of that type.

There is an online shop run by a fellow named Jeremy Law which sells deerskin items, including three shoe models made by C&J. I have bought the chukka boots in deerskin from him, and his service was excellent. However, Dimitri Gomez, the C&J last designer and bespoke shoemaker in Paris, told me that the skin in my boots didn't look like deerskin to him.

Maybe I am missing something here......Cervo (deer) is easy to find in Italy - readily available. Franco's keeps deerskin shoes in stock every season from Gravati (http://www.francos.com/items/item.asp?sku5=40833). Martegani received a request for a special in deerskin not too long ago and it was no big deal to get.....same price as calf, basically.

I've never heard anyone say deer was difficult to get.

I also have a pair od deer shoes, that kind of leather is used here often for rain shoes... I imagine is better handling the water.

They are not fancy like C&J or Lobb, but these people do some neat things with deer, moose, bison and other woodland creatures in boots and Mocs. I am going to buy a pair from them this fall.

You might want to make clear that you're interested in sueded deer leathers (velours/peluches).

Dimitri will charge the same price for antelope that he charges for alligator. Certain other bespoke shoemakers have told me that they can't even get antelope anymore.
