In that case, let me suggest black calf skin. I don't think we've done a GMTO on any calf yet. Preferably cap toe. With more eyelets to help polish the look.

Could you please put this in the form of the other makeups in the OP so that I can add it. It is better than for me to translate, nad invariably get something wrong. Incidentally, we did do a plain black boot that looked pretty much exactly like that, but it turned out to be our least popular makeup.

Cheers,

Fok.

"The Gentleman's ****-kicker"
Model: Service boot
Last: 2030
Leather: Black calf (not matte)
Leather (tongue): Black calf
Eyelets: 8 blind (this is not up for debate. It's necessary to keep the understated sophistication.)
Sole: Cats paw heal with Vibram 269 sole; or Dainite, natural midsole
Comments: Partially structured toe. Brogue toe cap. No ankle band. YOU F***ers KNOW YOU WANT THIS!

Elements inspired by:

Well in that case I'm in as well.

Well, if you're in, I'm out.

Actually, after thinking about it, I'm not necessarily a fan of rough-textured boots. Prefer a smoother finish. So ixnay on the axedway eshflay.

Sorry for the noob question, but how does the black calf differ from black CXL?

That's because CXL sucks, and most sites — including Viberg.com — have a version of a black CXL service boot in their rotation so the demand is satiated.

We'd be stepping it up a notch with calf. Especially with the blind eyelets. It create a sleeker, less-embelished looking classier boot.

Sorry for the noob question, but how does the black calf differ from black CXL?

Black CXL is thicker and heavier, more prone to scuffing exposing the untanned leather grain underneath the superficial dye. Usually with raw, undyed leather edges. Really, a simple fingernail scratch would rub away the black. I own a pair (with dyed edges), and they serve their purpose well — as my daily beaters. Specifically, the 3Sixteen Andrew Stealth collab boots.

Black calf is a thinner, lighter, more pliable — and more comfortable — leather that's dyed all the way through. It takes a nice polish if wanted and breaks in without spotty scuffs of exposed natural hide underneath.

Hi all,

It's time!

Instead of just posting what I remember, I am going to ask or suggestions, which I will add to the OP as they come up for discussion.

For the sake of uniformity, please use the same format as I am using, so that I don't have to reformat everything!

The boot that will be made (unless everyone bails on me):

"The Cabourn tribute boot - in the copper task roughout"
Model: Service boot
Last: 110
Leather: Copper task roughout (replacement, name may be different)
Leather (tongue): copper task (replacement)
Eyelets: 7 antique brass
Sole: dainite, natural midsole
Comments: totally awesome!

Black Service Boot
Model: Service boot
Last: 110
Leather: Durable Smooth black leather (non-CXL). Probably need Guy's opinion on what would be good and what they have available.
Leather (tongue): Same as above.
Eyelets: 7 antique brass
Sole: Commando, natural midsole.

The chukka that looks sorta like the Guidi 017, made using Guidi leather.
Model: Chukka
Last: 1035
Leather: guidi tan calf
tongue(tongue): guidi tan calf (leather in the front in the image below)
Eyelets: 3
Sole: dainite or leather sole, natural midsole

Model: Service boot
Last: 2030
Leather: natural cxl
Leather (tongue): natural cxl
Eyelets: 7 antique brass
Sole: dainite
Comments: unstructured toe

Model: Service boot
Last: 2030
Leather: brandy shell cordovan
Leather (tongue): brandy shell cordovan (Fok's note: Viberg has informed me before that they won't do a shell makeup, but I can ask again.)
Eyelets: 10 antique brass
Sole: dainite
Comments: partially structured toe

The ninja boot.
Model: Boondocker or Service Boot
Last: 110
Leather: Black Matte calfskin
tongue(tongue): Black Matte calfskin
Eyelets: 6 (3 for chukka), blind eyelets
Sole: black wedge/creeper sole (Fok's note: this would probably be a vblack virbram wedge sole.)
Comments: inner side black side zip (1/ea boot) (Fok's note: I have no idea whether or not Viberg will actually do this.)

That boot that is sorta like a Guidi boot, but with a slim almond toe.
Model: Service boot
Last: 2030
Leather: Guidi Tan Horsehide
Leather (tongue): Guidi Tan Horsehide
Eyelets: 8 blind eyelets
Sole: Dainite
Comments: partially structured toe, plain toe

Model: Service boot
Last: 2030
Leather: Olive Chromepak (or something similar in color and characteristics)
Leather (tongue): natural cxl or black cxl
Eyelets: 7 or 10 antique brass
Sole: Catspaw or dainite
Comments: unstructured toe

Model: Service boot
Last: 2030
Leather: natural cxl
Leather (tongue): natural cxl
Eyelets: 7 antique brass
Sole: Catspaw or dainite
Comments: unstructured toe

Model: Service boot
Last: 2030
Leather: whiskey or cigar shell cordovan
Leather (tongue): whiskey or cigar shell cordovan
Eyelets: 10 antique brass
Sole: Catspaw or Danite
Comments: partially structured toe

"Textured Smooth Chukka"
Model: Service boot chukka
Last: 2030
Leather: derby brown nut smooth (watch strap video) or brown bullhide smooth (two), (open to more suggestions)
Leather (tongue): matching
Eyelets: 3 hidden
Sole: dainite, natural midsole
Comments: Inspired from this 2030 dark brown chukka one, two, three. This aged bark chukka for Barneys. This aged bark chukka for Tate & Yoko.

Notes: plain captoe.

Cheers,

Fok.

Hmm looking at the OP, I think there are duplicates. The two black 110 service boots are exactly the same except the second listing says plain toe while the two 2030 natural cxl boots are exactly the same except the second one also has catspaw as a sole option. Also, I noticed a majority of the boots don't list whether it's going to be plain toe, straight cap toe, or brogue cap toe. Is it safe to assume if no cap toe is mentioned that the boots are going to be plain toe?

As of now, I'm interested in the cabourn boot & the natural cxl boot.

Would go for either plain toe or plain cap toe.

I guess the idea of an 8 inch service boot is to be ignored? I posted it on page 2...
