Restaurant Week

Anybody indulging themselves during Restaurant Week?

I'm hitting up III Forks, Stephan Pyles, The French Room, Mi Piaci (old fave), and trying to get reservations for The Gallery (Dean Fearing's new place after he left The Mansion).

I'm assuming that this post is oriented toward those of us living in Dallas as I see a large "?" over the heads of all the other forum members.

Personally I've never participated in Restaurant week. No particular reason, just have never done it. Didn't know that the French Room was even on the list.

You might also try "Suze" at NWH & Midway. Gilbert Garza is the chef/owner and does a fantastic job. It's a neighborhood place and only serves wine (no bar) but the food is amazing. Has a mediterranean flair. I think he usually has a RW menu. There is an appetizer called "Morrocan Delights" or something like that that is wonderful, as is the fois gras (may not be on the RW menu however). If he's serving the Bison Filet (usually on the "All the Way" menu) it is not to be missed.

I love Mi Piaci, but haven't been there in years.

DC Restaurant Week was last week. The places we tried were sub-par. Colvin Run and Taberna del Alabardero.

Haha I was wondering about the paucity in responses; I just assumed Restaurant Week was the same week everywhere.

Mark from Plano, thanks for the Suze recommendation. Have you ever tried The Grape? Very nice, good food, ideal for female companionship.

DC here too. We had a wonderful dinner at La Chaumiere. I highly recommend it. Their rest week menu was basically the same as their standard. And their standard prices are quite reasonable too.

D Magazine has some interesting recommendations. We seem to go back to the same places over and over again.

What would you guys recommend on lower Greenville and Uptown areas? I found Ali Baba's in lower, lower Greenville to be a nice little treat. Can't really think of anything else that stands out in my mind.

Kronik, I tried Taberna del Alabarderno, too and found it underwhelming. I've eaten there before and it was good. I do believe that Restaurant Week brings one of two responses from participating restaurants: let's wow these new customers and get them back; or, throw something together we can do without thinking, since none of these folks will come back here anyway.

Lower Greenville/Uptown has some great tapas places like Sangria and Hola. There's even a Middle Eastern-type of tapas place (tabouli, kebabs, etc.) called Cafe Izmer that is pretty good.

What's Restauant Week? Coincidentally, some of you may be interested in Pelligrino's dine out event:
