Hello All, this is a cross post to the general fourm since i did not get much of a reply ther . I am seeking a simply motorcycle type jacket similar to the one in the directly pic here:
2005layercake021kr2.th.jpg
[/IMG] What i like about it is this (1) its simple; (2) its tailored fitting; (3) it does NOT have ragalan shoulders; (4) it has narrow sleeves w/o zippers and (5) it leans away from the traditional protetive moto jacket towards a bit more casual. I have been unable to find a similar jacket, so any suggestions for sources or custom would be appreciated. Note: this is not a referredum on whether you like these type of jackets. the goal here is to find that jacket that DOES NOT LOOK LIKE: -raiders of the lost ark -the fonz -tom cruise circa mi3 -40 something undergoing a mid life crisis My research here and on other boards seems to indicate that the best quality traditional moto jackets are probably made by UK's areoleather and NYC lost worlds. I have looked at these and while they do not have anything like the one above they do have something similar. They are awesome and the price does not scare me but they do seem to be a bit of heavy "overkill" for my causual needs. For example the LW:

[/IMG] And the aero:

[/IMG] Similarly, there are Schott cafe with collar and the vansons. I think they may be too heavy as well. The Schott:

[/IMG] The Vason:

[/IMG So i would appreciate any thoughts suggestions etc, particuarly regarding an areo v. LW...Aero does make a mid weight horse hide while Lw's site seems to imply they wont. Or any general suggestions

The brands may not be appealing, but did you try Kenneth Cole or Andrew Marc--they've both made jackets similar to the one Craig is wearing.

Agreed. It sounds like you want a mall-brand leather jacket. Here's one from BR:

Hello all and thanks for the responses. I do not want a MALL brand jacket and i apologize if my posts were not clear. I am looking for a high quality garmet, and will go custom if neccessary--more like Bellstaff, if you could find one in the states. The Idea of KC or BR is actually kinda repulsive in a third world, slave labor, dump leather tanning materials into the rivers kind of way The pics and suggestions are much appreciated and yes they capture a bit of the style im looking for. the simplicty of the andrew marc style is very nice: http://www.andrewmarc.com/displayproduct.aspx?cid=25 But the question is where could that type of jacket be found in a great quality hide, not made in the third world. Ideally a mid weight horsehide or similar. If you look at the details in the craig jacket you can see it is very finely crafted, the zipper is very neatly factored into the garment and the cut is excellent Again i am not ungrateful for the comments.

I have a Lost Worlds, and if I was going to buy another one I'd get the Aero. LW uses a heavy nylon lining and it doesn't breath well at all. Keep in mind that both of those jackets are made with very heavy horse hide and will probably not be very comfy for a few months, my LW took a few years to really feel worn in.
