Huh? For one, losing weight is about maintaining a negative caloric balance, so it's essential to keep track of both intake and expeditures. Also, a high protein intake together w/ some weight training go a long way toward minimizing muscle loss during cutting. It all depends on what you put into your protein shakes.

Losing weight is about calories burned - HIIT cardio in the morning can keep your metabolism raised for the entire day. Best way to shed the fat. Eating is only half the equation.

Let me spell it out for you.

To lose weight you need to burn more than you eat.

X needs to be greater than Y. X > Y.

There are two ways to do this. Raise X (metabolism). Lower Y (calorie intake). Doing both speeds up the process more than one by itself.

There, hope that makes sense.

A post workout protein/carb drink is always good to have after working out though, whether doing cardio or weight lifting. You want that insulin spike and the essential amino acids that come with this type of drink does help build muscle and lose fat. Obviously you do need to burn more calories than you take in to lose weight but more importantly, you need to be eating the right types of meals throughout the day and at the proper times. And simply running in the morning doesn't always boost your metabolism throughout the day. You would be better off running intervals for 20 minutes if you want to burn more fat. The most recent research indicates that interval workouts cause the body to burn fat (increase metabolism) for up to 24 hours after the workout has ended.

Cardio burns both fat and muscle, protein shake reduces the amount of muscles burnt, and also promotes muscle building

or at least thats my underestanding of it
