Very embarassing question - Are you supposed to dry your 'bum crack' after swimming/s

Everyone knows that after going to the toilet/using the bidet (don't really like them myself) you have to completely dry your bum, to avoid a 'wet surprise' and basically looking like you've pooed your pants.
However, recently I suddenly realised that I've never bothered to dry the crack of my bum after swimming or showering - is this a problem? I've never done it because the idea of drying my bum with my towel seemed gross, but now I'm paranoid that 'dirty' water droplets from either a shower or pool have soaked through my underwear and got onto my trousers.

So, basically I'm looking for reassurance - is it a given that you completely dry the 'crack' of your bum every time after swimming or showering? Or is it perfectly standard not to?

Thanks a lot

Edit: Ok, please don't joke here - I'm deadly serious. I've been worrying about this particular hygiene matter for a while

Hell of an inaugural post there, Hawk. Really, I'm curious what the hell you put into google when styleForum popped up as a search result. Anyways, yes, I dry my ass crack after showering and/or swimming. Moist butt-crack? Ewwwwwww...

Blow-dry.

My valet dries mine by gently blowing through a straw. It takes a little time but one finds that to be the case if one wishes a job well done.

You've seen Borat? Never fails.

This advice is found in too many songs:

"shake your booty"
"shake it like a Polaroid picture"

You should take a shower (with soap) after swimming and clean down there.... so putting a towel there should not be a horrific experience.

I would say BIG YES..... Damp, clingy underwear is a nasty no no!

If you've taken a proper shower, your bum should be just about as clean as your face. You do dry your face, don't you?

I love the face/butt towel because it just assumes that there is nothing else worth drying. That and you need a square yard to dry your butt.

Holy crap...forgive the pun...

Dig in and dry. You will be good for the day. If you get the SWAS (sweaty *ss) throughout the day, dry again. Your comfort will allow you to not worry about this crap. Everyone has an *ss and they have to deal with it. If your worried about that, I hate to see when the s**t really hits the fan...

If you're that aware (and that's pretty darn paranoid) about it being a subject rife for mockery, just use some darn toilet paper instead of a towel. But as said before if you've actually bathed worth a plug nickel your ass should be clean, so don't worry about it. Besides, you do have an immune system, right? Anyway...giving you the benefit of the doubt and taking your question seriously: as for hygiene, moisture is breeding ground for bacteria. Don't walk around with wet unmentionables.
