a few months back Daniel Defense execs were in nashville and took us out to the range to try out some toys. They had some really sweet setups...but this was by far my favorite.

DerekS, If you want to give me the first three digits of the serial number and the letter prefix, e.g., S299XXX or N713XXX, of that Model 29, I can no doubt tell you a good deal more about the gun, when it was made and its approximate value.

do you have the S&W Book???

Im gonna take you up on that. possibly on my 586 as well if you dont mind.

IIRC the 29 is a N9 serial. My dad thinks it was somewhere around '85 or '86

Okay, if your revolver has a serial number beginning with "N9," it would have been manufactured between 1981 and 1983. This could make it either a 29-2 with a 6-inch barrel or a 29-3, which lacks the countersunk chambers and the pinned barrel. The model designation will be found on the frame when the cylinder is swung out. Fjestad's 2014 Blue Book assigns a value of approximately $900 to that revolver in the condition it appears to be in, about $100 less for a 29-3. Values may be slightly higher in 2015 Blue Book, which I don't have.

Picked up my revolver today. Within about 10 minutes of arriving home I had the new Hogue overmolded grips installed on it. Unfortunately the gun shop was all out of both 38 special and 357 magnum ammunition (thanks Christmas) so I'll have to wait a few days before I can take it out and try it.

So in the meantime I can sit and caress it, like Gollum.

Heading to the shot show this year. I wonder what the new theme is. Went through mini guns, then mini guns with lasers , then Mimi in 9mm.

I think this year it's going to be subcompact single shot CCW pistols in .50 BMG. But I haven't been following industry trends that closely, so maybe that will be next year. satisfied.gif

Also: I will get a picture of the revolver up when I get a minute to get it back out. I really like how the new grip looks and feels in my hand. I've been doing some dry-firing and it just feels rock-solid. smile.gif
