New spring from Di Maestro

This is a new line for us, which we started carrying last fall. Entirely made in Italy and a relatively new company that's positioning themselves to be a competitor to brands like Brunello Cucinelli. The fit is a bit on the slimmer, true-to-size side.

The first sport coat is made from Loro Piana's "linen tweed", which is a 69-16-15 blend of wool-silk-linen. The jacket's texture is smooth and soft and has hints of tan, dark brown and ecru.

The interior is half-lined with piped finished seams and four interior pockets. The lapels are peaked and features a boutonniere stem keeper.

The jacket is a 2-button front with patch pockets and dual vents. Sleeves are unfinished and buttons are genuine horn. Sizes 48, 50, 52, 54 IT available. $2250. Here's the fit of a 48 IT (I tend to wear a 38R):

We also have a silver grey linen windowpane. I'm not entirely sure of the weight of the linen, but I'd guess 9-10 oz. It feels a bit more substantial.

The interior is the same half-lining with piped finished seams. Up close, the grey actually has streaks of white, navy and slate running through it.

Fit is the same, but this jacket features notch lapels and slanted flap hacking pockets. Same two-button front and dual vented back. Sizes 48, 50, 52, 54 IT available. $1995

We also received dress shirts and knits from Di Maestro. All feature very light fabrics that have a unique softness to them.

These lightweight crewneck sweaters made from a 70-30 cashmere-silk blend are softer than almost any T-shirt and extremely luxurious to wear. Could be layered or worn on their own. Sizes M, L, XL in blue and M, L in brown. $1495.

For casual shirts, we received a rust rugby pique and an ivory full-placket jersey knit shirt. Both feature mother-of-pearl buttons and dual sleeve buttons. The rugby is washed for a relaxed, worn-in look. Sizes S, M, L, XL available in the rugby ($350) and M, L, XL in the shirt ($395).

In dress shirts, we have classic white and blue as well as a grid-check with brown. Shirts also feature mother-of-pearl buttons, French plackets, rounded barrel cuffs and a very soft collar with a moderate spread. The cotton shirting is almost voile soft. Sizes 15.5, 16, 16.5, 17.5, 18 in white and blue, 15.5, 16.5, 17.5, 18.5 in the grid. $525-550.

I tried the Di Maestro jackets on during a resent visit. They are especially nice. With the new Sartorio and Di Maestro jackets , Khaki's has added two remarkable tailored brands to their line up. On your next trip to Carmel be sure and try them both. The fabrics, fit and details are very special. They blow Cuccinelli out of the water IMO in quality and value.

I've stopped by the store two different times visiting the area. Purchased items both times and I'm very satisfied with them both. I bought a pair of Zanella trousers in a slim fit I had never seen before.

Yes, we're bringing back Ring Jacket for a trunk show in San Francisco once again! We had an absolute blast last time in September and it was great meeting those of you who came by to check it out. Here's the important details:

When: Tuesday, March 24th.

Where: Hotel Palomar, 12 4th Street, San Francisco

Private appointments will begin at 11 a.m. Please contact us at appointments@khakiscarmel.com or click here to sign up

Meetup will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Anyone is free to stop by and chat with us!

We can do fittings can also be done during the the meetup, but it can be a bit crazy.

Khaki's owners Jim and Connie Ockert will be attending along with Hidetoshi Sasamoto, head of Ring Jacket sales. We'll have exclusive spring fabrics from Carlo Barbera along with books from Drapers, Holland & Sherry, Loro Piana, Dormeuil, Ariston. Of course, if you want to pick up something for fall-winter, then let us know so we can bring books for those, too.

We'll also be bringing our signature khaki trousers for those interested in seeing how they fit and an example of our Gaziano & Girling and Edward Green shoe range. Interested in trying on shoes from those companies in your size? Let us know and we'll bring a few in your size.

Of course, we'll also be bringing up our spring range of Ring Jacket ready-to-wear suits and sport coats for you to check out and try on. It's a great opportunity to learn how the jacket styles fit and experience it for yourself.

We look forward to seeing you all and feel free to sign up for an appointment!
