So did RO copy Delvaux design? From that picture I was trying to make out what the embossed letters are, look like "RO", definitely not "1829".

I think that navy briefcase is the best product you've shown so far

+1. Navy, like gray, is one of those wonderful colors for a bag that go with everything. BUT, looking objectively, I think it's smart they are starting with black/brown just in terms of marketability.

I sort of disagree with the member above who mentioned green. It looks great in pictures and is one of those colors I always think I'm going to love... but then when I've had green stuff (LV's now-discontinued taiga in Epiciea, for example) I always found it really hard to match or look right for my daily wear.

I have no idea, sorry.

@Hobbs Yes, we will ship worldwide! Hope to get you as an early backer

@stevent Great idea! It will be very hard for us to add this color at this point in time but we'll keep it in mind for the future. If we raise 200 000 USD (530 bags sold) we might be able to add another color, but that's a big maybe. Please help back us with the black, cognac, dark brown or navy in mind. Without your pledge we won't be able to even kick off the core collection=(

@cbfn Excellent, so happy that we are getting you on as a backer! It is in the same leather. Smooth article, full grain vegetable tanned. I hope you will love the leather as much as we do. It's feels really natural and smells sweet.

@HRoi - Glad you like it. It's a killer color, we love it too. Unfortunately it's not as commercially viable as the black, hence we decided to make it a stretch goal. Really hope to reach $100 000 USD in sales, so that we can add this color to the collection.

@rach2jlc You are spot on, when talking to the average "non-styleforum" member, they all opt in for the black. They all desire the cognac, but they don't have the confidence or the wardrobe to pull it off.

Again, thank you guys for taking so much interest, this means the world to us!

Can't believe we are just 15 days away from launch! It's only with your guys support that we can make this dream come true!

One key element will be to get as many backers as possible on the first day to gain momentum, that's the only way we'll get press coverage, support from other backers[with less insight] and boosted on the Kickstarter homepage! Please sign up to our newsletter here and help spread the world.

Since you are in SF, can local members see these items in person?

@Mr. Moo That's a great idea. To avoid a logistical nightmare though, we should probably try to get several members together for one meet up? Any other fellow members you think would be interested? Please feel free tag them. Venue TBC.

I'd love to see one in person as well.

I'm out in the East Bay, but would make the quick jaunt to SF to see some bags!

Looks nice! I'll definitely be looking closer at these. I may post a link over on our MANBAG thread so readers there can take a gander.

My only caution to you as somebody who knows a thing or two about a manbag, taking a page from the Lambertson Truex men's collections, is that there comes a point after the initial "splash" when well made, affordable minimal bags need a second "push" to keep customers coming back. I LOVED LT before they went under and often listed them here as my favorite "bang for buck" bag. But, the problem that caused their demise was that once you bought one in a classic style, you really didn't need another. Season after season they sort of offered more or less the same "classic" bags. That's fine to do if you have a full other product line (like Hermes) to support during soft sales times... but without that it can be tough. It can also be tough because superlatively priced bags (like Valextra) get the extra Cache of VIP clients who buy them each season whether or not they need them. A minimal, well-made, affordable bag (almost by definition) won't have the same kind of repeat buyer.

Without seasonal "catchy" bags or SOMETHING to get new folk coming in (or old folk coming back), sustaining the customer base and maintaining growth can be tough. Those who love minimal bags don't tend to love new ones season after season after season. I'm not exactly sure the remedy to this, but I hope it is something on your radar. Like LT, it was a huge splash that everybody talked about for three or four seasons... and by 2010 they were kaput.

Another strange factor with "affordability" is that in foreign markets it can be counterproductive. Though in the USA (and perhaps Europe) there is a definitely need for this, in some of the other lucrative markets (China, Japan), affordability can work in reverse. Coach, for example, doubles or triples the price of its goods NOT because of taxes or tariffs... but because it's expected that brand bags will cost a lot. Strangely, they'd have FEWER sales in japan if they kept the same pricing structure they do in the USA. So, that also is something to consider as you may want to expand into other markets.

I think you've hit a great niche that is desperately needed, though, so I truly wish you good luck with the brand. And thanks for choosing SF as a place to start!

Rach is back! Very insightful posts, as always, particularly the suggestion to have both classics and interesting seasonal/annual offerings. Mismo does a great job at this, imo.

Gotta disagree w/ you on the preference for zippers over flaps for a daily bag. For travel, I agree, since zippers keep stuff more secure. But for a daily bag that won't be turned over or on its side, I prefer flaps, since they allow for easier access and are less likely to snag on something or break.

I'm always down for a meetup! I grabbed a drink with @Linjer last night and saw the black soft briefcase briefly, but we were in a dark bar so I didn't get a good look. Felt (and smelled) great though. Initial impressions were good.

Thanks!

Re: messengers... definitely I wasn't intending to imply an either/or approach. I was just mentioning as they consider future designs that love of the flap messenger isn't unanimous (I myself have sold or gotten rid of all of mine that I've had); nevertheless it's the smart choice for their first crossbody bag. Sort of like going with black/brown instead of green/blue, having a flap messenger is the "smart" first choice to have in their initial collection.

Awesome +4, starting to become a small crowd now. Who else is in?
