What's going on with the limited edition offer?

I thought it was limited to 250, but it keeps growing? Will everyone all get the engraving too?

Basic dirty marketing hack: give the (fake) impression that there's a limited supply and people have to be fast.

Hi guys,

We're STUNNED.

The last few hours have been crazy.

We reached our Kickstarter fundraising goal by 8:05 ET-- 5 minutes after our launch!

By 8:53 we had reached $50,000 in pledges. Last time around it took us 48 hours to get there. We've certainly come a long way. smile.gif

Big thank you to everybody who has contributed to this thread with thoughtful comments and words of support. Not sure where we'd be without such a solid community. A bigger thank you goes out to each one of you who backed our project in the last hours (including @Bruges @Hobbs@White Lotus) - really means a lot to us.

Our Kickstarter campaign (currently at $96,000) can be found here.

Cheers,

Roman and Jenn

@minifred There are many options of sizes, case colours and strap colours! You can see the full selection on the Kickstarter page.

@ljungbergerWe had such great interest in our watches that we decided to increase the number of numbered edition watches. The first 200 units moved really quickly.  If you were one of our first 250 backers, we’re working on something extra special for you smile.gif

Yea, the bait and switch on the first 250 limited edition was not cool and has diminished my trust in the company. I will not be ordering anymore from Linjer.

Actually 650.

Hi all, just wanted to clarify what we chose to do with our numbered edition 1 WATCH - EARLY BIRD reward. We got a lot more interest than we expected - the first 200 numbered units (in that reward level) were claimed within an hour. We had not expected them to move so quickly. We were expecting it would take at least a day.

We decided to increase the number of units for that reward level to 650 because we still had a lot of people on our pre-launch list who hadn't come in-- people that had been talking to us and were really excited about the campaign, who told us they could not be at a computer/phone for launch time for whatever reason, and they couldn't find 'backup' backers for them. So this was us trying to make sure we could take care of those people.

We upped the number of that reward as we wanted to avoid creating new rewards as much as we could. We did this on our last campaign page and ended up with something like 30 different rewards - it was crazy and messy and hard to understand for everybody.

We limited the single watch numbered editions to 650, so it still is quite special. Once those are gone we may create an alternate reward that is not a numbered edition but still allows people to come in at a lower reward level. (Hopefully the only additional reward we will ever introduce). Still thinking about it.

If you were one of the first 250 backers, we will make sure to do something extra special for you to thank you for being one of the early adopters! We'll reach out separately after the campaign is over to let you know what it is :)

Right now as the Kickstarter messaging system is really basic it's really a project to do any kind of mass outreach - and we won't get our backers' email addresses from Kickstarter until August 13.

Cheers,

Roman and Jenn

I don't have a dog in this hunt, but if I had signed up for a limited edition of 250 and then discovered that, after I had committed to the project, the edition had been somewhat arbitrarily increased to 650 (or any number, really) I'd be mightily aggrieved.

I think that is a serious misstep for Linjer. There might only be a few people upset, but the optics aren't good.

Cannot find the add a strap section after pledging....

I think they're just trying to make people happy. Anyway, they said they're going to do something special for the first 250 people. I'm one of the first 250 backers and personally don't mind that some more people are getting numbered editions. They're still limited. Looking forward to hear what the special extra thing is ! <img src=

Great job with the strong launch @Linjer !

I agree that Linjer is just trying to make folks happy. Anyway it is a $149 (or $349) watch. How exclusive is that, really?

Linjer promised exclusivity and they failed to deliver on that. Any amount of explanation or reasoning is pretty much an excuse for being a sellout.

As for trying to make people happy take for example: What if Louis Vuitton decided to sell their leftover stock at a discount rate rather than burn them at the end of the year? Would that increase or diminish the brand value? Price doesn't matter in terms of exclusivity if there are only 250 of them.

Anyways this incident shows what their values are.

Unless it is some sort of engraving or something to mark the uniqueness of the watch for first 250 backers it is not the same thing. It still would be bait and switch.
