Any updates on this? Are you still on schedule to ship within the next few weeks?

I really dislike the stitching scars you are trying to hide behind the handles. I know why it is done, you are being stingy with leather and would rather use 3 small pieces instead of one big piece.. I tell you that won't work in styleforum, people like us can see right thru it. I saw this thread months ago and dismissed your bags based on this, but now it seems you are still continuing to make your bags with many small pieces of leather instead of one bigger (expensive piece). What I don't like is how you are disparaging more expensive bags while yourself are offering a lower quality product at a lower price point. You are not comparing apples to apples and I find that deceptive. Your bags are lower priced because they are not the same level as more expensive bags.

Yes, we are still on schedule to ship in the next few weeks! We'll send out one last email to confirm shipping details; that should be in your inbox in the next days. Thank you (and everybody else) for your patience. We're really excited to send out these products!

Hi @ertu, Jenn here.

To be clear, we were not attempting to hide the stitching there. Anyway, if we were trying to hide it, we would not have taken a photo from that angle!

For us, new product design always starts with an idea for a shape. As we develop the design, we think about how to optimize construction and all of the small (but important) details to get the right aesthetic, function, and carrying experience. Naturally, questions of yield also come into play. You're correct in that using larger panels is more expensive. But at the end of the day we don't measure the quality of our work by the size of the panels that we use in the construction. The reality is that sometimes using larger panels enhances a design and sometimes it doesn't.

In this particular bag, since there are vertical straps running down both sides of the bag, using a single large panel would not provide any aesthetic or functional benefit (in our judgment). That's why we decided to use separate panels of leather here, and we were deliberate in designing the seams and stitching so that they alluded nicely to the craftsmanship behind the product.

Hope that gives you some insight into our design process and how we make decisions here.

Meh, what a lame excuse. And also, it is as if you assume I don't know much about design. Your bags look like those $300 mall store leather duffles that have patchwork leather done mainly to save money. And I do know that sometimes leather seams can be good design, but only when done right, your bags here fail on that. I am surprised styleforum put up with your shitty bags. I am only stating the above just to be frank, I really don't have the time right now to write a "nice" post. Anyways, I won't post here in this thread anymore, I won't waste any more of my time here, I already called your company out and that is exactly what I came to do.

I think you're more stating that to be a jerk. Is someone forcing you to buy a product from Linjer? If not, I really don't see what you're getting so worked up about.

Don't feed the trolls. Or the arseholes
Well, that was totally uncalled for, really.
I do believe Linjer has never made disparaging remarks towards any "expensive" or "high end" makers. Or behaved in any manner to that effect. Their marketing pitch has always been value, decent (no claims to be best in the world) quality and honesty. I believe they fulfill this.
There is no pretentiousness and they don't go around calling themselves what they aren't.
Sure, they aren't Clegg or SAB, BUT they NEVER claimed themselves to be.
Sure, using more panels saves leather, does it necessarily translate to a poorer product or aesthetic? To some, maybe. To me, at least, no. Definitely not discernibly so, at that price.
The thing is, it does translate into a price break for the consumer. Some people (maybe most) appreciate this.
Some do not. And for those, the solution is simple; look elsewhere.
In terms of aesthetic tastes, it has and will always be, a matter of personal choice. And you know what ertu? No one gives a shit about yours. Really. Especially when making asinine comments to the effect of "everyone knows the best clothes in the world come from England." Utter crap.
I've always felt that if you're going to open your mouth and sound (and most probably smell) like an asshole, you're better off keeping it well shut.
Roman and Jenn, you can't say it out loud yourselves, but really, you don't have to feel the need to respond to pricks like that.

Well, just got confirmation of my wife's soft tote set to ship soon.  Crossing my fingers that she gets it by Valentine's Day, but she already is getting a cool coat and a custom made overnighter, so I don't think that she can complain.  (Or she does, I will put my hands over my ears and sing loudly, like I already do.)
